That deputy should be named and fired if true. What a shameful display if true

Like the Parkland school shooting deputy that cowered outside during the gunfire - he was forced into early retirement with a pension of 9K per month + medical.

LEO could have shot his weapon in the air to get the SS sniper’s attention.

He could have done anything and it would have been better.

Lots of soft people in positions that require hard men.

We get what we deserve.

And then the bullet comes down and strikes a person…. lol no officer is going to do that.. and if they did that’s the officer that needs to be fired.

If he was climbing up the ladder and when he got to the top he saw a guy pointing a gun at him and he didn't have a chance to get to his weapon because he was on a ladder, what was he supposed to do?

It is hard to engage in a gun fight when you are on a ladder.

Now did he communicate that he had a man with a gun on the roof? Did the SS have time to get Trump off the stage.

Lots of people sounding as retarded as “why didn’t they just shoot him in the leg?” crowd after a cop shoots someone.

More retarded than a single police officer without his gun drawn investigating reports of an armed person on a roof within a football field of a Presidential candidate?

Well, this would be the correct protocol. The SS snipers on the roof would send local ground LEOs there while watching for action. They are not at liberty to shoot unless the threat is 100% confirmed, and as that building would have been in the local LEO security ring, they would need to wait for the locals to confirm, not one of theirs.

Once they knew they had taken the right action, the issue was that SS advance teams did not dream that the building was worthy of being in their ring of control. Then again, that would have taken higher-up approval, and we know that was not happening. At the very least, they should have ordered Local to be on the roof to begin with, or maybe they did, and Local failed.

Having his gun drawn would have not helped him at all if he crested the ladder looking down the barrel of a gun.

The bigger issue is the premise of your actual snark: why didn’t a helicopter or drone or actual sniper start glassing the area after the first report, 3 minutes prior?

Why wasn’t Trump pulled off stage at the first report?

There was systemic failure on multiple fronts.

He should have done something. But a radio call wouldn't have made one difference. By the time he reached up to his shoulder mix, pressed the button, talked, someone heard him and located exactly where he was and acted - this thing is over.

Most people can't emotionally accept they have been thrust into a bad situation. Look how many cop videos there are where cops get killed when it is plain as day that a bad guy is taking lethal action against them. Their mind is stuck in, "Is this really happening to me?"

He needed to ask himself before he headed up the ladder what the logical extension of someone on that roof that close to Trump actually meant. That guy wasn't up there to ask for an autograph or to shine Trump's shoes. There was one result he should have been prepared for when he cleared that rooftop.

Why wasnt there a sniper on the Water tower next to the show that would be able to see all roofs in the area?

There is a lot of assumptions being made in this thread. Things don't progress as a lot of you think they do.

I agree. With that I could use some advice on a good reliable abd reasonably priced “pocket pistol” for my wife to carry in her purse. Anybody got any suggestions?

When these rookie police officers are trained in these ‘Police Officer Training Academies’ do they do any situational awareness exercises? I’m thinking there are far too many of these ‘Uvalde’ incidents where these officers commit to a possible threat without preparing, or simply ‘cut and run’. You know live to ‘cut and run’ another day. Dang I’ll say it - the SS failed to secure that roof, . the local poo poo climbs the ladder (okay he climbed the ladder without his weapon drawn) and President Trump comes within an inch (or less) from getting his head blown off. And all we’re left with is a video of some D.E.I.females struggling to holster their service weapons while having a meltdown. Is this Joe Biden’s version of keystone cops?

How do you climb a ladder with a gun out?

Yep. That probably would have gotten the Secret Service’s attention and they could have quickly gotten Trump off the stage.

I bought a Ruger LCP Max. It’s a micro .380 caliber that holds 11 rounds in a tiny package. It’s very small and in the factory pocket holster, I literally forget it’s in my front pocket.
