re: People who think Ron DeSantis is a less toxic version of Donald Trump need to understand

Draining the swamp won’t be accomplished by a president. They have accumulated too much power and protections for their jobs. It cannot be done by a president. He can make some progress but they’ll gum up the works with bullshite investigations into the president and if he tries to fire them he gets “obstruction of Justice”
The only way we drain the swamp is replacing the swampy congressmen with ones who will pass laws downsizing the scope and power of the letter agencies. The only other way besides this is a revolution by the people and removal by force

But his administration was full of swamp and he continues to buddy up to swamp creatures.
This is very accurate, and it does bother me.
However, over time I understood it somewhat. I mean, Omarosa was just a shite hire any way you look at it, and I can't stand the warmongers like Bolton either, but Trump also buddied up with a few stellar names like Hicks, Grinell, SHS, Flynn, etc.
The way I see it now, if you're in a den of pit vipers and you can make "friends" with a couple of them and they provide a buffer between you and the rest of the ones who only want to bite and kill you, that's probably your best option. Trump definitely had reelection on his mind, and he went in greatly underestimating the depth of the swamp... but i honestly agree with the OP that a second Trump term with the gloves off, would be biblical.
If Trump were to somehow get reelected after beating the media blitz, Dominion and ballot counters, he better have the right friends in all the right places because the three-letter agencies would definitely be looking to JFK him.

Nazis in Charlottesville were "good people," or
Soldiers who died in battle were "losers," or

The swamp cannot become MORE of a swamp. It is 99.9% filled with filth. HE exposed so much of it. His mere existence in their system was the flashlight we all needed. He polarized the proper elements.

Trump wants to drain the swamp. He is not afraid to call out the cesspool of corruptness that is Washington, DC.
quote:Quit making these lame excuses. If he didn't do it before, he won't do it in the future. You live in a fantasy where Trump is some sort of super hero. He's not. He's sucks at hiring. Blow smoke up his arse and he'll give you what you want.
I don't think Trump had any idea how difficult it would be and how much his hands would be tied during his first term.

It doesn’t really matter what Trump WANTS when he’s such an ahole that he can only get 38% of the vote

Trump in a second term where he doesn't have to worry about who he pisses off will be something to behold.
A President is far more powerful in his first, than in his second, term. This is because he poses a threat for reelection. Trump would be a lame duck the minute he walked through the door. He would be ignored and ridiculed by the permanent government. We would get lots of funny tweets and GIFs, though.

Trump can win the general. Even with all the cheating in 2020 Trump came very close especially in GA, AZ, NV and WI. Get these wine moms to stay home in those states and these states flip to Trump in 2024 and he wins.
You are counting on winning the Electoral College in spite of losing the popular vote by 5 to 7 million. It’s possible, but it’s highly unlikely.

If Desantis becomes our next President the MSM will scream every day how he is far more evil than Trump ever was. There will be phrases that start with: 'Well, at least Trump wasn't ...(fill in the blank) like Desantis.' It's how the left operates.
I would vote for either Trump or Desantis. Between them both, I am leaning DeSantis for many reasons. IMO, because of TDS, Trump scares the swamp more than DeSantis but in reality DeSantis may be the more potent. He is done a great job navigating the Florida swamp, uniting the voters and getting reforms done.
Plus, he sent a great signal when he fired that DA who would not prosecute criminals. He also fired the President and board of directors of New College in Sarasota, replacing them with some normal people. He's pushed out some Marxist school boards, corrupt election officials, etc. with no apologies and all firings stood up in court challenges. You think DeSantis would shy away from draining the DC swamp? At least he knows how to do it. He set the precedent for firing swamp parasites. Do you think Missouri's AG would have the guts to fire St Louis DA and Soros lackey, Kim Gardner, if he had not seen DeSantis do the same 7 months before? IMO, the smartest swamp dwellers fear DeSantis more than Trump and they don't thing they can beat DeSantis.
