That's been the US policy since 1979. Both R and D presidents have stated it and reiterated it for that entire span of years.

Literally nothing will happen. China doesn't control Taiwan. It's US law that the US intervenes if China starts blockading them.

No president or white house official has ever publicly stated that they explicitly do not support Taiwan independence. You will never find a quote of one of them saying that. (other than Biden, of course)

It's a separate government that is not subservient to the PRC in any way other than that they are scared to say anything that will piss them off. China has basically let them be and the US has vowed to support Taiwan if China moves against them.
