Pearl-clutching over Chick-fil-A

Some of y'all need to get a damn grip. Y'all realize the restaurant was NEVER anti-LGBT, correct? People took a benign answer by the owner and ducking ran with it to create their own narrative. On both sides of the aisle.
People treating the latest development as a "win" or a "loss" haven't been paying attention--it's a BUSINESS. They are always in it to maximize profits. They've been successful thus far in doing that because they are a well-run company with an industry-leading standard of cleanliness, customer service, and efficiency in delivery of a consensus high-quality product. That's the bottom line. All the other stuff? Superfluous. Anyone whose emotions toward the company were one thing before the announcement and the opposite thing after?
That's on y'all. This is business, people.

I am disappointed that they won’t continue supporting the FCA and Salvation Army, but it won’t impact my consumption of sammiches. I’m also positive both organizations will find other sources of support. I hope it doesn’t impact this years holiday efforts to provide gifts to needy children.

That’s as close to woke as CFA will ever get. Meanwhile, Gillette says you need to chill the frick out.

A bottom line cut to the chase post.

In the eyes of a progressive you either blindly and vocally support their every position or you should be silenced an shunned. You are either very vocally pro everything lgbtqiakdjfjd or you are a Nazi bigot.
There is no gray area.
You're either with them or not worthy of your own life and decisions.
Tribal politics put above the ability to think for yourself. This is how communist revolutions start. It's how civil wars start. And it's how societies collapse.

This is not true. If it were solely about profits, they’d be open on Sunday.

Not necessarily. Other than being closed on Sundays.

Wrong.

My thoughts are always my own. This post is about business (a field in which I hold an undergraduate degree).
Weird to bring my race into a conversation about business and chicken but ok.

Bingo.

Not necessarily. Think of the overhead saved.

I agree with you.
That said, it's still one of those head scratchers merely because of the reality that at no point in history has the left ever accepted an apology or change in stance on such things.
Literally no one on the left that hated Chic-Fil-A yesterday will be OK with them tomorrow.

If I started a religion with a narrative that being white is bad, and opened a non-adjacent business based on those same tenets, is there nothing wrong with that in your opinion?

Are you implying their overhead would exceed their profits?

You see the disconnect here? They're a business, yes, but they've never been solely focused on maximizing profits. The old man is dead, the kids want to change direction. That's their business, but let's not pretend it's not a change. How it'll work out in the long run is anybody's guess, but I wouldn't want to be their social media manager right now.

I don’t go there to support a certain political cause. I go because I enjoy the food; it’s probably the best fast food company in the business. That’s how everyone should think.

Whoever down voted you is a racist. Do you think they know that?

I don't think it has anything to do with that.
They just opened their first UK location and had to shut it down within a week because of the protests.
University student associations are pushing for schools to get rid of their campus CFA locations.
City of San Jose just voted to surround their Chick-fil-A location with rainbow flags.
Chick-fil-A has a highly successful business model and wants to expand. It doesn't matter if they will accept apologies or not, it's business.
I know all of this

They have cut ties to the organizations in question and public opinion will forget in time, or, at least, will settle things down so they aren't constantly actively protested.
