It's a very, shall we say, low energy, pivot.
I'm not even certain the particulars of the plan, including increasing the number to 1.8M, were confirmed.
But the Trumpcucks on here are out in full force trying to rationalize capitulating on their keystone issue. And that is sad.
Please clap.

They will probably all end up loving Trump and he knows this. All of this shite is going to backfire on democrats.
I don’t know about all that.
It’s not that different from what Obama did for them.
More? Sure. But it’s not the massive night and day difference that will change votes as a block.

Obama got them here and left them in limbo. So he really didn't do much for them.
I don't think anyone should get instant anything other than a green card. Everything else should have to be worked for. That is a pathway for citizenship w/o giving it to them.
Dreamers should be happy with this because Trump could tell ICE to pick all of them up and kick them out.

They do not want what they claim to want . They want a wedge issue that allows them to be racial demagogues. Their leadership is betraying their good intentions because they would rather sandbag Republicans.
One of the best ways I have ever heard it described. The only thing I disagree with is the good intentions of democrats. Any good that comes out of any policy they propose is pure happenstance.

Most rational adults are able to give a little and come to compromises. This is not the edgy gotcha that you want it to be.
Provided that the bill includes border security and revoked chain and lottery migration, most of the right will support it. That’s not a flip flop at all. That’s coming to middle ground. It has always been about security and reform.
It was never about deporting all the brown people, despite what the media tells you the Republican viewpoint is.
Say it again for the people in the back.

Edgy gotchas is all the regressive left has. The fact that the rest of us have a conscience makes them think that this tactic is their go-to weapon.
Best response is just to ignore them when they pull this shite. They'll eventually go back to their echo chamber at DU.

When have I ever posted my personal opinion on pretty much anything? I'm simply asking about the demands that "you gotta go back" that Trump and his supporters have made since the beginning of the campaign. You have no idea what my thoughts are on the subject.
However, the idea that y'all can flip-flop on this without being called out on it is laughable.

Perhaps you spend too much time on this board. Addressing the fringe elements of either side for the sake of lame internet gotcha’s is about as intellectually pathetic as it gets.
I look forward to you jumping in all the threads about something an extreme leftist said with this same message. (I won't hold my breath)

I don’t think he was talking about dreamers in that quote. At least not specifically. There are other illegals here you know.
fricking hack.

Now Trump is actually going to give them citizenship and you scum bags have the authority to criticize him and the very people who put him in office. A simple thank you would suffice
More like laugh at the mental gymnastics it takes to not admit you're flip flopping so that you don't have to go against Trump. How quickly you forget things like

Yet objecting to sending them back in the first place was also lame, according to this board. I guess the mature, objective thing to do is wait for your GEOTUS to flip flop before your conscience kicks in

My main takeaway from this whole thread is your dishonesty. Your ideological narrative is way stronger than your argument. That might be why you can only make strawman arguments instead of listening to the explanations given to you .

He has not failed me yet, but if he caves on immigration, conservatives will abandon him and the Republican Party in the next two elections.
Posted on 1/28/18 at 6:39 pm to Jeff Boomhauer
I always have been. Give me the wall and you get your path. These folks will end up conservatives in the end anyway,it's at the heart of how they think and live, so its a win-win.

No citizenship or voting rights. PERIOD
Posted on 1/28/18 at 7:28 pm to Jeff Boomhauer
I'm okay with a pathway for DACA, as long as it is, as President Trump said, 10-12 years.
For the rest of the illegals, no way. I'm okay with them staying, as long as they don't break the law. But no citizenship. We should not reward their illegal behavior with the gift of US citizenship. They should be on renewable visas. If they commit a felon, their visa is revoked, otherwise, it is renewable.
This, combined with a big, beautiful wall, e-verify, and a revamped visa system that tracks people who may have the opportunity to overstay their visa.

I’m pro-DACA and always knew Trump wouldn’t deport them.
You are also everything wrong with politics. You would be on here losing your mind if Trump was deporting the DACA kids but since he’s not you come to make fun of the flip flopping. Without compromise and deal making our government doesn’t work.

President Trump's stated election positions during the election are an opening gambit in his negotiating.
A President can say he is for this, that, and the other, but unless he has 60 votes in the Senate, he has to compromise. He has liberals so focused on the possibility that he will send them back, that they won't notice that he got exactly what he really wanted (a wall) in the end.
To be fair, though, he has modified the touch-back proposal, saying that it is not the most efficient way to do it.
