My personal opinion on homeowner taxes, is that you should be “locked” at the price point you bought the house for.

That is the homestead exemption in florida. Other states have as well. First, there is up to a $50,000 reduction in home value for taxes and there is a lock at only a 3% yearly increase. Great value. But, as before, every New Yorker moving to south Fla. and paying a boatload is stuck with those incredibly high property taxes.

Too bad you have to be OAF to see your investment purchase reap rewards without a sale.

Ours can grow 10% each year which is basically every year now.
With Homestead Exemption which is utter BS.

Are you saying that property taxes in Texas are state taxes, not local?

You can never be free from government as long as they can tax you to live on your own land.

Do you depend on government to provide access to your land...i.e., roads to drive on?

Property taxes are evil.

Weird. To think that a system that has more or less been in place since the founding of the country is evil. Even weirder are all the threads bemoaning the conspiracy to take ownership away from the rank and file.

It's amazing how many of you want to keep living in such an evil land. I can remember such great times at my grandparents' house back in the day. Little did I know that it was all just a front for evil.
