Pennsylvania bill will require ammunition sold to be serialized /old ammo to be disposed:

It's been introduced. Not signed into law.

Base of bullet and inside of casing has to be serialized.
The box has to be marked with the matching serial number.
Any ammo that is not serialized must be disposed of by 1/1/24.

Louisiana bill requires a firearm owner to assume liability for damages if their firearm is stolen from an unlocked vehicle and used in a crime/felony.

Nothing like good old fashioned victim-blaming/shaming.

The law is overstepping authority to me, but how about not leaving guns in unlocked vehicles?

It will probably be contested in a lawsuit and rightly so...
It's a reasonable expectation that when a person locks his property away that it won't be stolen. On the other hand, I read this is a big problem in Shreveport that a large percentage of guns used in crimes had been stolen from vehicles.
This is America, how can you blame a responsible tax payer for what the criminal does with his stolen property?
That ain't right.

That's like saying if you leave your house unlocked and someone comes steal a kitchen knife and later uses it to stab someone, you're liable.

Nothing, it's just a means to make gun ownership so cumbersome that many folks wave the white flag.

Just makes ammo more expensive and limits where you can buy it from if you live in that state.

The point of all this is to put the financial and legal onus on the legal possessors of firearms to essentially prevent them from being able to own them. It's how they've been approaching for years because they know they don't have the support to outright ban them.

They will never see a nickel of the $.05/round tax as it pretty much guarantees that zero ammo manufacturers will ship their products into the state of PA.

Republicans did this? This seems like Democrat work to me.
Dumb-assed bill should not make it through committee.

Seems like that would seriously complicate the manufacturing process and require a hell of a lot of retrofitting or overhaul of the machinery in order accomplish.

I guess those proposing the bill didn't really think of how cumbersome all that would be, huh?

1) guns can be stolen from locked cars as well

2) how can they tell if the car was locked/unlocked?

Is it possible to break into a locked car without evidence of tampering (aside from a broken window)? Truly don't know.

So therefore I again ask, how can it be proven that the gunowner hadn't locked their car?? (Not asking you for an answer .. just saying this is dumb)

Then the car would technically be unlocked before the theft. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
