It’s way too complicated to overturn.

Banning abortion won’t suddenly make people become responsible.

The social programs youd need in place to support unwanted and abandoned babies would be a massive challenge.
overturning roe v wade does not ban abortion. It just gets rid of the farcical idea that abortion is a constitutional right. The gymnastics they used for justification of that decision are used even in hyper liberal law school as examples of a poorly reasoned decision and of judicial overreach/bench legislation. It's the power back on the states to make their own abortion laws

you understand that all repealing roe v. wade would do is throw the abortion issue back to individual state jurisdiction

The uninformed electorate doesn’t know this, nor will they be informed of this fact by any of the media they consume.

But some federal legal protection for aborting pregnancies is necessary. There are rare instances where terminating a pregnancy is life saving for the mother. You can’t criminalize physicians who decide terminating the pregnancy of a dying preeclamptic woman is in their best interest and offer it as a treatment option. If you could actually limit them to procedures which required medical necessity, you’d have thousands of abortions per year instead of hundreds of thousands. How you do that is the debate we should be having. But people on the left don’t care about the elective killing of babies by irresponsible women and people on the right believe that a mother unnecessarily dying during pregnancy was all a part of Gods plan for her.

The fact people don't realize what overturning Roe would actually mean is a testament to the idiocy of a lot of people.

It would ONLY mean the individual states could decide their own abortion policy for their own citizens.

It would mean VA could have their +5 minute abortions and Mississippi could outlaw it.

It would NOT make it illegal nationwide.

are your people this stupid? all row v wade will do is kick it back to the states. states can still choose to endorse abortions. some can ban it. no more federal oversight or endorsement.

I agree and I don't want it overturned. The only good to come from that would be the liberal tears. Which might be well worth it

I could see an increase in sky screamer Suicides, which would be a great trade off!

It sure is, but there's nothing you can say to them. They just can't help themselves.

This is a major national election loser for the religious right.

Depends on what you mean. Most fertilization events end in abortion already, with between 15% to 25% of all pregnancies ending in spontaneous abortion, and the number is probably much higher (maybe even 50%) due to the woman not knowing she was pregnant. I would also suggest that the issues that make pregnancy an even more high-risk event for women have to do with poor health outcomes in general, of which we have many in the US, across all demographics and age groups. We could do better to make pregnancy, which is already a high-risk event, less high-risk, but any top down instruction is received poorly in the US.

If this nation has any hope to heal it must be overturned

It is the legal source that has done more societal and political damage.

Depends on what you mean.

It means what I said. A woman comes into the ED at 20 weeks with a BP of 210/120. The fetus is not viable out of the womb and medications failed. The mother has two choices, abort the pregnancy or die. I believe in those situations that a decision to abort the pregnancy should not lead to arrest of a physician or the mother. Apparently some people here disagree.

The SCOTUS decision only covers the first trimester. It's the individual state BS that should have been covered. A live failed abortion is a birth. Simply put in a closet to die is murder. The Virginia plan of "born" then decide, is murder. Those individual state law needs to be stopped first. SCOTUS left a loophole wide open.

I’m not sure who is running on this issue. It can’t be legislated. There’s not really much point talking about it at all unless you are running for President and even then it’s not worth discussing much because a) it’s only relevant in the event there’s an opening in your term to nominate and b) it’s only one of many issues SCOTUS may rule on. To me it’s as simple as stating you will appoint a conservative and constitutionalist judge and leave it at that.

No, but the feeling isn't mutual, obviously. Too much brainwashing over too many decades.

My position has always remained the same. Overturn Roe, let it go back to the individual state legislatures. Half of the states will keep it legal and half won't. If you want an abortion simply drive next door. At least the individual legislators will have their vote on the record.
