I wonder which side of this schism will wither away over the next decade or two.

Our church actually sued the UMC & the North Georgia conference because they were not allowing disaffiliation due to “misinformation”. We won the suit which helped set the precedent for all of the other churches in the North Ga conference to leave. It is disgusting what the UMC has become.

I feel terrible for the small, rural churches who do not align with the new UMC but cannot afford to disaffiliate; The people there that have been there for generations.

Lol no. They don't / won't get their funding from donations.

My prediction is that both sects will better off financially. The conservative sects will see more passionate attendance and donations and the liberal sects will get more funding from left wing NGOs and our fed government for "refugee" work, LGBT ally shite, etc

Any incorporated or 501c3 church will soon cease to exist b/c of these stances.

People need to prepare themselves for home churches in the near future. That is what the New Testament church looked like anyway.

Funny, I was in Providence, RI a few weeks ago for business and through the weekend. I went to the oldest Baptist church in the country in downtown Providence....affiliated with the American Baptist conference...never heard of them.
Interesting in that the pastor was a woman from Midland, TX and the announcements were given by an obvious tranny.
It is a beautiful old church, totally restored in the 60's with a government grant. There might have been 50 people in a church that seats 400. They are surviving on historical monument money and it doesn't matter what the parishioners want or believe. Pretty sad.

I watched a video of a black pastor on YouTube a couple of months back on one of those CNN-type "panels", where the host and other guest was aligned against him. Both were women, the other guest and the host. They mocked and laughed at him through the interview for his positions on the Bible and the Word of God. He said something that was like a hard punch in the chest. He said something to the effect of, 'I don't interpret or translate the Bible and the Word of God into something that fits my purview, I merely communicate it.'

Praise God for those that left. While unity is ideal, light cannot be unified with darkness. The light either removes the darkness, or the light goes out and joins the darkness.

We voted to disaffiliate a while back and it wasn't close.

I just watched this 30 minute overview and I can't think of a better or more succinct recap of the evil, deceit, and bad faith, "by any means necessary" behaviour of leftist filth.

People like this hate our way of life and are true enemies.

This is what happens when any decent organization, religious or otherwise, is infiltrated by left wingers. They're worse than locusts and infinitely more destructive and dangerous

Old Methodist here. To paraphrase loosely from Reagan, I didn’t really leave the church so much as it left me.

If I want the religion of Liberal Progressive thought, I can always flip on MSNBC.

I don’t need to hear its spin to replace/supplement His Word at the place I physically attend.

Being an old fart that was raised a Southern Methodist, this bullshite depresses me.

Not because it's happening but because me and people like me have let it happen.

But Jesus tells us we are now to love the heretics that are destroying His Church because they believe that every single moment of every day in every place and in every way the most important thing in this whole wide world is that everyone should know/needs to know/wants to know exactly how they like to get off with other human beings and praise them for it.

OK, here goes: 'rah'...

We had a perfectly good plan to separate amicably allowing Churches to choose Traditionalist, Centrist or Progressive. Methodist Church has a trust clause meaning the UMC owns your property. So they held that over ytour head. The Judicial Council and Council of Bishops evilly pulled that plan back in the Spring and rewrote the methods by which one could disaffiliate. The vote had to be 2/3 plus one, pay two years' apportionments and pay all unfunded pension liabilities. Remove all Cross and Flame logo on anything in the Church including hymnals.
So the human sexuality is long gone in the rear view mirror. It's all about the draconian Judicial Council and Council of Bishops. My Church voted 91% to disafiliate. I was prepared to leave my Church of 30+ years if it went otherwise. The United Methodist Church left me a long time ago.
