And, no, you don't have to be a lawyer to understand it. You merely have to understand:

A) Roe and Casey were terrible decisions in terms of their "reasoning" and holdings

And

B) Dobbs does not outlaw abortion nationwide.

It’s distressing to see how much dumber the average person has gotten in my lifetime.

I don’t think it’s possible to underestimate how much damage the department of education has done

Agreed Roe & Casey should have never been affirmed in the 1st place the power of this and many thing (yes, even gay marriage) should reside with the states.

Its amazing how so many people believe this will outlaw abortions nationwide. The left are freaking out thinking that all abortions will be banned while the right is celebrating think that all abortions are now banned. Abortions are still legal you just might have to travel to get one.

I think it has more to do with people simply wanting to be a part of a collective, the pro choice team. They draw identity and acceptance from this public display.

It’s too much work for them to sit down and ponder the issue intellectually. That doesn’t give them the feeling of acceptance and belonging.

I would expand your point to say that probably 90% of the “political outrage” in this country comes from people who do not fully-understand the issues that triggered the outrage.

It’s simple. those who are outraged have no idea why

In most cases, the most violent protests are in places where the law won’t change. New York, LA, Denver, Portland.

People tearing up stuff just to wine and moan.

Friend of mine from HS reposted a tweet about Thomas wanting to re-examine a number of these cases.

I asked if he took the main American Government teacher at our school before he transferred out and brought up how that same teacher, who is probably to the left of Stalin, specifically covered a lot of these cases including Roe, Griswold, etc, and that the constitutional reasoning for them was crap regardless of the end results.

It may not be so much that the average person has gotten dumber, but that social media has made you more aware of how dumb they’ve always been

Depending on the person, it may be the school systems failing them.

Schools are supposed to teach civics / American government as a graduation requirement. My specific school covered the constitution and how it worked, the amendments, etc, in addition to the Supreme Court and numerous important cases, both in end result and the precedent set in those decisions.

A lot of people probably aren’t getting that anymore and it is intentional by the schools to keep them stupid.

I’m reminded of an offhand comment in The Running Man in which Arnold tells one of his fellow political prisoners to “stop teaching street punks the Constitution” once they all escape.

Yeah it's frustrating. I've had a couple friends get into it with me when I said while I support the end product, the way they got there using the Supreme Court instead of legislation or amendments is disgusting.

I've long advocated a gay and poly marriage amendment so we can have the USSC junk that awful decision while keeping the gay marriages going.

One is tempted to also think that social media essentially forces one to condense complex political views into simplistic one-liners.

But then you think back and realize that in 1952 a lot of voters conducted an analysis no more complex than an “I like Ike” lapel pin.

100%

And it's shocking how many so-called blue check academics don't understand simple constitutional principle

I do not remember when the Dobbs case was first filed but it takes a while for things to rise to the level of being heard by the Supremes. Mississippi passed a trigger law in 2007. It gives abortion clinics 10 days to cease and desist. Why weren't other states that favor the right to an abortion forward thinking enough to write and pass legislation that represented the desires of their people? Some did and Dobbs changes very little but some of the largest protests are in these states. Some folks just can't be happy unless they are pissed off about something.

Very similar to the BLM riots of 2020.
