Why would we “have to deal with” the humanitarian situation were it to arise.

This is a difficult, complex, and nuanced take that quite frankly, not a lot of people (esp on the right apparently) have the wherewithal to comprehend.
They start history at a convenient timeline that totally ignores the USA's frickery in meddling with other countries and the audacity of those people over there to be mad about it. But let Russia pass one submarine between the US and Cuba and they get mad af.
What they don't realize is all the time and energy that has gone into the ME in the last 25 years is a waste of time. They want to fight Iran over there, while Muslims are taking over back over here.

I was alive and as I already pointed out, we overthrew their democratic government in 1953 and installed a brutal dictator. 1979 was a rebellion against that government and the US embassy was attacked in that because the guy was our puppet.
Save me your dogma based on emotion and an extremely one sided view of things as if the attack was out of the blue when it wasn't.

Agreed.
If we had only killed a few more Vietnamese or dropped a few more bombs in Cambodia we would have won the war instead of slinking back home in defeat. It was our restraint that lost that war.

If you bomb Iran's civil infrastructure back to the middle ages, the population will start leaving and you'll have another refugee crisis where Soros and the NGOs will send Iranians to Western Europe and the US by the millions. No thanks.

Yes we with our CIA intervened because the same radical ideas were taking over Iran after WWII. Russia and China were there during the war and their oil was being controlled by Britain
The radical was living in yeah you guessed it France. Go figure Yes the USA had to step in and has been having too for a long time.
But Carter gave up when his rescue didn't work and they have been radicalized ever since.
So i guess we should just accept the fact that Obama and Biden gave them to tools to destroy us with their Nuclear play toys.
We may have not been perfect but we tried to bring them into the civilized world.
So your policy aligns with Obama and Biden. Give them Nuclear materials to build weapons so they can attack us. You condemn the us for trying to do what should have been done a long time ago correctly.

The so called "rules of war" only exist at the pleasure of the strongest country.
There is merit to both arguments here. It's logical to believe we should live up to our own rules. There's also logic in saying that if your own rules are hampering you due to the opponent not playing by them, then maybe you should change your rules.

I agree with most of how you're laying this out.
I'm curious if you have similar views on Russia attacking Ukraine. Do you believe that was our fault too? Or, stated differently, do you believe Russia acted rationally? For the record, I do believe Russia acted rationally.
