SIAP, but it will be interesting to see which one takes a deal first.

This assumes they take a deal.

Everything collapsed in the Baltimore case when the prosecutor tried to get the driver to get convicted first then offer a deal.

The driver got a mistrial which pushed him back, meaning she didn’t have him as a witness in the other cases. The whole thing fell apart shortly after that.

Chauvin could get convicted on a lesser charge.

I think the other three officers skate unless the state tries to bankrupt them into taking a deal.

Same as with a guilty verdict, 12 out of 12 must vote not guilty on everything for them to walk. Quite the tall order.

How many times do they get a mistrial before they quit trying?

This also assumes the cops can’t just get a bench trial, which limits the amount of grandstanding bullshite involved as long as the judge is sane. Which is chancy given the area.

I'd think probably after a second mistrial a different approach would be taken. Probably a plea offer to defendant for one of the lesser grades.

Bench trial is a mighty tricky gamble, but when they hit they hit big. If there's a question of a fine point of law that the jury just simply isn't going to pick up on, bench trial is a decent option.

The Baltimore cops chose a bench trial for that reason. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 officers did the same.

Look at the mobs on tv. First thing that’s gonna happen is a complete change of venue. When it moves out of Minneapolis and into a more middle class area of the state, he’s going to find a much more sympathetic jury pool. Anyone with eyes can see this coming from miles away.

they walk or get a slap on the wrist. Absolutely no way they convicted of 2nd degree murder nor was anyone guilty of 2nd degree murder given the fact that the deceased was not cooperative. No way were they being reckless legally as cops.

I didn't know that. Then that will certainly be studied by their attorneys. Has there already been a trial of the century? Can't recall. These are setting up for that. Mostly because of the hype already in existence.

I honestly think they waited so long, to allow the riots to simmer out of control.

Chauvin will now be charged with second-degree murder, The Star Tribune first reported. The other three officers involved -- Thomas Lane, J.A. Kueng, and Tou Thao – will each be charged with two counts of aiding and abetting and 2nd-degree murder.

If convicted on both counts, the officers face a maximum of sentence of 50 years in prison, and a fine of up to $20,000.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is expected to hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon to announce further details.
Wait, I thought that the cop with the knee on the neck was at 40 years? Am I reading this correctly the other cops could get 50 years max?

The msm already believes all four should be charged with murder and they are inciting violence over it. I believe that first officer, the one with a knee on Floyd's neck, is guilty of some level of murder, but if he gets off on some lesser charge, i.e. manslaughter, and the others get lesser sentences, we'll have all this rioting all over again. At this point, it doesn't matter to the msm and others whether there is due process or not, only that these cops get the sentences they want. Mob rule.

I couldn't disagree with that. Whatever is right....they're for the complete opposite.

The prosecution has so many hurdles to clear in this case. They are going to have to completely discredit any defense that the fentanyl and meth in his system played any contributing factor in his death. Second will be the video prior to him being restrained on the ground where he continually fought being put in the car. Third will be his continued instance that he couldn’t breathe prior to being placed on the ground. Finally they are going to have to overcome the fact that neck restraints are listed as an acceptable form of restraint for officers. The prosecution will try to focus on the video of Chauvin with his knee on Floyd’s neck, but the defense is going to argue that the totality of everything prior to Floyd being placed on the ground left the officer with no choice but to restrain him via accepted police practices..... doesn’t mean it’s not fricked up or that I agree with what he did, but this case is not in anyway a slam dunk.
