It is going to split the party. Bill Mahar, James Carville, and Fetterman are already signaling this. The Republican party has the big umbrella in 2026 with left of center populists like Trump to Conservatives. Moderate Dems, and hell even most of the liberals are much closer to Trump than they are to Mamdami and Sanders. The Democrats are going to have a mess in 2028 when the electorate votes for the most moderate candidate they have, and the party pushes some lunatic from the fringe as the nominee.

established Social Security Administration and introduced large public works programs (CCC, WPA).
this man was so popular he won 4 elections in a row and i agree with those socialist things he did.
he's arguably the most socialist president we've ever had so yes in that context i am defending socialism.

When you are so far on the lunatic fringe you lose site of where the center is. Carville is barely left of Trump, and Mahar is well left of Carville, but both are far right of what is becoming the mainstream of the party. Democrats have been trying to position Trump and MAGA as far right for years, but nobody buys that. Trump is left of center.

Communists believe in the government eventually going away. It’s fairly stupid, but without that it is socialism not communism.
