quote:

Prominent clergymen and scholars including Fr. Aidan Nichols, one of the best-known theologians in the English-speaking world, have issued an open letter accusing Pope Francis of committing heresy. They ask the bishops of the Catholic Church, to whom the open letter is addressed, to "take the steps necessary to deal with the grave situation" of a pope committing this crime.

quote:

We take this measure as a last resort to respond to the accumulating harm caused by Pope Francis's words and actions over several years, which have given rise to one of the worst crises in the history of the Catholic Church

quote:

The authors of the open letter state in a summary of their letter (read below) that it has now become clear that Pope Francis is aware of his own positions contrary to the faith and that the time has come to go a "stage further" by claiming that Pope Francis is "guilty of the crime of heresy

My thoughts exactly. It’s amazing how he’s openly defied the faith and teachings

He's a Jesuit, which means he's leftist radical.

A special counsel is needed to investigate.

I'm not a Catholic. We have several Catholic friends, though, and Mrs. Zwin was actually asked by the local parish women to lead a retreat for them. We were the token Protestants in the room, and I sat by the Bishop at dinner one night. Gave me an appreciation for how hierarchy and dogma are held in high regard.

That being said, where is the line where the Pope basically gets to say whatever he wants because he is speaking ex-cathedra, under the cloak of papal infallibility?

As a Protestant, I think he is just another man. Well versed in scripture and (I assume) sincere in a very deep faith. But he is neither perfect nor infallible.

I'm a lapsed catholic admittedly- but I can't stand the Pope. I hope they Ned Stark him, that's how much I dislike him.

This is not how the Pope walks around the world. This only happens in specific circumstances. And it has only happened like 3-4 times in the last 1500 years.

Common misconception. The pope is not infallible innately.

I did not express it clearly, but I actually understand that. My question is when this force-field does get activated. My point is that I have a hard time believing this is EVER a legitimate thing.

I’m confused. What specifically was his crime?

The communion thing doesn’t phase me. But the Pope has been toeing the line of pro-abortion and pro-LGBT. Both of which completely contradict the teachings of the church

Of course the Pope is a Jesuit. And the Jesuits were taken over by radical leftism about the same time the Pope was ordained as a priest and studied with the Jesuits. The Jesuits are the radicals of the Catholic theology and are frequently told to abandon some of their ideas and teachings

He pretty much says Scripture is relative. At least that's what I gleaned from that article.
