Trump throwing a fit because he doesnt want to be limited on debt. And yall claim Roy is a D stooge.
Really?
(A) There is no "fit" being thrown.
(B) The Debt Limit has never once, EVER, in the history of the US, limited debt. Not once! So your assertion that Trump "doesn't want to be limited on debt," is so TDS-riddled that it rivals Whoopi Goldberg level logic.
(C) The only thing the Debt Limit is good for is empowering the minority negotiating stakeholder vis-a-vis threatened government shutdown in negotiations.
(D) In March, guess who the minority stakeholders are.
(E) Schumer's stooge, Chip Roy, gave Dems not only that lever, but also a bite at new budget negotiations along with it.

There is also a reason Chuck Schumer was tickled pink about the """Conservative Republican""" actions and result. In March, Schumer plans to let Cameron Smith know why he's presently so pleased.
You’re smarter than this.

I would like to see congress have to work within a balanced budget but in order for that to happen a law would have to pass that prior approved funding can be cut if its required to balance the budget.
In order to be fiscally conservative they have to be able to cut all the fat that has previously been passed in congress without a balance rule. You cannot now say we are going to have a balance budget and then have the budget used by all the previous years funding.

Electing a President does not absolve Congress from doing their duties.
It’s why they exist and don’t have Kings.
That whole separation of powers thing was brilliant but seemingly inconvenient for some at times. Some of both sides of the aisle apparently.

All you are doing is rationalizing Trumps progressive tendencies.
Its ok. Youre allowed to criticize once or twice.

Trump would care about deficit spending if the Houses did but they don't. Haven't since the Clinton years. Just try to reduce the 'rate of increase' and watch what happens!

"Fiscal conservatives" dont do anything except hurl stones from their peanut gallery. Trump wouldnt veto a bill slashing spending...but they wont ever give him one to sign.

Y'all have finally made the leap from Conservative to Liberal.

We just elected Trump in grand fashion to implement his policy. We didn't elect congressmen to block his agenda.
Oh that pesky democracy with its legislature and its checks on power. Maybe we should just get rid of it entirely and give Dear Leader total control?
I mean ... for fricks sake, guys. Read your own bullshite out loud before you post it. You're literally advocating for a dictatorship.

"Conservatives" are defacto liberal since all of their effort only gets leftists elected and the most leftist economic policies passed.
Paul Ryan, hero of "conservatives"

They did it with his COVID response. They did it with his reauthorization of the Patriot Act and FISA. They are doing it now with this budget.
The rhetoric surrounding this Trump term has been off the charts encouraging, but history tells us a different story and the first challenge of debt limit negotiations was an abject failure.

If he was Dictator in Chief?
Sure.
He's a lame duck on j 20 and you full well know what that means. He only has so long and so much capitol to spend. Yeah he could make a stand. While other issues go by like a silent train in the fog. Illegal immigrants, Ukraine, child trafficking, big pharma, MiC, the DoJ, Fbi, trade, China and a host of other issues.

Just so we are clear, the Debt is not a problem with MAGA going forward.
Democrat or Republican, and Republicans that vote against more debt are bad.
Thats what you folks are saying.

Tax cuts are progressive?
Privatization of USPS, is that progressive?
Using tariffs as a negotiating lever, is that progressive?
Now talking about the rich sauck wealth out of the coffers of the middle class, that is definitively prog stuff.

Not a policy. In fact, its a voluntary program with zero teeth. Youre going to be very disappointed.
quote:
Tax cuts are progressive?
With added spending, yes. Its called Modern Monetary Theory.
quote:
Modern Monetary Theory suggests that governments can fund spending without relying on taxes or borrowing. Instead, they can print as much money as needed. MMT challenges the idea that taxes should pay for government spending and argues that taxes are primarily used to control inflation
