BREAKING: Nuclear talks called off The Islamic Republic has decided it will not negotiate over its nuclear program with the United States. Iran’s Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Baghaei says “it is not the right time to discuss the nuclear issue with the enemy.”
Your terms are acceptable.

I’m seeing chatter in the wider interweb of an emerging deal that leaves the nuclear material on the table for a future negotiation.
But it is Friday and maybe the chatter is aimed at the adjusting the stock market for Monday profiteering.

Here’s the deal Mr. Ayatollah. Give up all aspects of your nuclear program, complete opening of the straight. You have 24 hours to decide. If you make the wrong choice, say good night.

UPDATE: President Trump has abruptly CANCELED his trip to Trump National in Bedminster, NJ, and will be heading STRAIGHT BACK to the White House following a speech in New York
It's unclear why, but in a post about not attending Don Jr.'s wedding, 47 said "I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, DC, at the White House during this important period of time"

The practical indicator won’t be economic collapse, it will be something humanitarian like plague or starvation. The real question is whether the US has the stomach to accept the optics of laying siege and starving a nation into surrender, like the Israelis are doing in Gaza? It seems apparent the IRGC doesn’t think it will.
I don't think it will be economic collapse or humanitarian disaster.
It will be to bring down morale of the foot soldiers when they aren't being paid or paid very little. Then the rebels will be release to us guerilla warfare attacks against the IRGC directly. Sniping them at check points, strafing them with drive bys anytime they are spotted out in public. Even direct attacks by large groups on their buildings when they are weak and the insurgency is swelling in power.
Desertions will become the norm and the regime will soon topple.
So it will be by force. Not by economics alone and certainly not by starving the county to death which would basically be eating at them from the innocent up towards the worst actors last.

Pretty cryptic, but the only way I see this ending very soon is if we finish the job.

US markets are closed Monday for Memorial day.
My 3:00 pm central time bombing run is behind schedule, or like everything else, called off.
Damn it.

Why would Iran give up control of the strait? Why would they give it up for nothing when America has failed to take it through force?

Average Basij wage is about $10/day. Spitballing simple numbers, every tanker that pays a $1.5mil toll will fund monthly payroll for 5,000 troops. Given how little Iranians make, they only need a few tolls a day to keep the armed forces paid and loyal to the cause.
Horrible morale is coming. But, not for the loyal with weapons.

The sledge hammer is about to be wielded.

Same basij that is terrified of their own shadows and have to hide under bridges to escape drones? Those guys are going to be the big bad bully?

Iranian air traffic authorities on Friday suspended all previous clearances for civil passenger flights at airports in the western part of the Tehran flight information region (FIR), allowing only eight sites—Tehran Mehrabad, Tehran Imam Khomeini, Qazvin, Shahid Sattari (Tehran), Payam, Yazd, Isfahan, and Arak—to remain open.
These airports are now restricted to daylight-only operations, from sunrise to sunset, and airlines must request new permission from the Civil Aviation Organization to operate civil instrument-flight-rules (IFR) flights into or out of them.
This change effectively limits regular passenger traffic at these western Tehran-area airports to the specified hours and requires fresh approval from Tehran before any scheduled or charter operations can resume.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS—The UAE is reportedly facing widespread GPS and navigation jamming, including severe disruptions at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
GPS jamming is often a sign of looming military escalation — disrupting navigation, precision weapons, and regional air operations.
The timing is notable:
• Trump reportedly held a national security meeting on a possible “decisive” strike
• Iran warned of a “third version of combat”
• Western Iran airspace was closed
• The UAE already hosts Israeli air defenses and has previously been targeted by Iranian missile attacks
If another wave of strikes is coming, the Gulf may be the frontline of Iran’s retaliation.
