The May 6 Israeli strike on a target as important as a petrochemical plant, while the "cease fire" was officially still going on, seems significant. It shows that Israel retains the right and willingness to bomb Iran itself. Hopefully they will be doing more of it.

I don't see that happening any time soon. I think we're going to resume Project Freedom again and just wait them out. It could take months or years.

Well months or years…. is why people call it a quagmire

Israel may appear to concede on occasions but she will not concede her sovereignty when push comes to shove

Exactly how is it a "quagmire" when there is no fighting?

I am curious, do you feel they should be using drones?

I understand the gaming industry uses controllers very similar.

Absolutely. Lots of people already use drones, they are very easy for gamers to master and there are games that are good simulators too. Best of all they allow the operator to remain hidden while being able to precisely see and attack targets within in a mile or two or more depending the drone. IRGC check points, bases and gatherings would never be safe again. The protestors of the uprising would know who they are looking for.

It would fill the gap between airpower and boots on the ground.

What is a quagmire?

Physical Meaning: A muddy, boggy, or swampy area that traps feet or objects.

Figurative Meaning: A tricky, tangled, or messy situation (e.g., "a legal quagmire" or "a political quagmire").

Key Characteristics: Inescapability, complexity, and being stuck or bogged down.

Everything you claim we have accomplished (lmao) with this ceasefire could have been done while slamming them. We lost ground on this and it's not even close.

Everything I claim we accomplished we actually did accomplish. We've weakened their economy, that's not losing ground. Greatly diminished their oil revenues, and demonstrated that they are not interested in giving up their nuclear plans or their militia. And we've made moves to prepare for a next step if it's required.

Those may seem like trivial accomplishments to you, but waging war requires more than just bombing until the other guys surrender. The president and his team chose this respite because they think it's necessary. Your assertions to the contrary are conjecture based on limited information.

Just to add, I agree with some things you post here. I believe action against Iran is a matter of US national security and I really hope this ends up with regime change. I also hope it can be accomplished without going the scorched earth route. But no matter what I want to happen, I can think of many things I don't know, so as of now I defer to the decisions made by people who know more.

CNN reports that, according to satellite images, a large oil stain can be seen spreading in the area of Kharg Island - the island from which Iran exports 90% of its oil. Over the last four days, no oil tankers have been observed near the island, so the spread of the oil stain cannot be attributed to a tanker leak or to oil loading processes

"Iran had 159 ships in their Navy — Every single ship is now resting at the bottom of the sea. They have no Navy, their Air Force is gone, all Technology is gone, their “leaders” are no longer with us, and the Country is an Economic Disaster. Only Losers, Ingrates, and Fools are able to make a case against America!"

No, a big earthquake that caused thousands of civilian deaths and incredible suffering for tens of thousands more would call out for a humanitarian response. It would actually make it much more difficult for us to achieve our military goals.
