The U.S. and regional mediators are exploring high-level peace talks with Iran as soon as Thursday, but are still waiting for Tehran’s response.

Trump wants to wind down the war, though tensions remain high.

Israel is wary Trump could strike a deal that falls short of its goals and limits its military options.

No deal with this regime. Only deal should include this regime completely stepping down from government. Otherwise, keep blasting em.

Any deal with this regime is a complete waste of time, money, and progress earned the last month.

I agree. Nothing really has been accomplished right now that cannot be repaired by Iran in the near future. Was the point of the war only to set them back a few years?

Don't stop the war until all of the enriched nuclear material as been found/destroyed. All nuclear facilities have been completely destroyed. The Islamic Republic has been removed from power and no longer has control of the country. Allied control of the strait is secured.

That's the real rub here.

Israelis been clear so far that the war is over when they say it's over.

The reality is they driving the bus, and we along for the ride ... for whatever reason. So all this talk about negotiations is just talk.

Isn't all this a waste at this point if the US strikes a deal?

Regime change for Trump means killing Ayatollah and anyone other loyalist and replacing him with someone more friendly to US and negotitable i.e. Delcy in Venezuela

So you are saying that the bus driver is afraid that a passenger along for the ride is going to put the bus in park? If they are dictating everything then why are they afraid Trump the puppet will end the war without permission?

That would be a failure in my eyes. When you’ve gone this far, complete dismantle of the IRGC regime is the only acceptable answer. A deal with this regime just kicks the can down the road a decade or two.

Yep, and also a good time to revisit Slim Charles famous quote in The Wire.

I'm saying the bus driver is gonna get off the bus, punch a hole in the fuel tank and burn the bus down to the frame on the side of I-10 while the paying passengers stand in the ditch and watch.

But they are looking at what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan when the US installed a government.

They are hoping a cooperative part of the existing government is more stable than a completely new foreign installed government that the old regime then fights against.
