I am more of the opinion that bullets would be best. Not saying your suggestion wouldn't work, not saying that at all. Just thinking grenades would be more prone to harming pedestrians.

Sniper or sniper teams (Iranians) with air support from AC-130's!

Check points would be virtually impossible.

You would have to have guns too, however guns are not very concealable. One Iranian citizen (a mole), could rat out anyone he sees to the IRGC. Thats instant death for the citizens. Grenades would work extremely well as a terrorrizing/demoralizing option. Who knows who has one in his pocket . IRGC could catch you with the grenade, However you can just pull the safety pin and have your finger over the striker , if he shoots you, hes dead too.

In WW2 we made and gave single shot guns to the populations so they could kill someone who had guns and then take them for resistance.

But I forget, the 2nd Amendment is good enough for us but not for them.

Fox News has learned that the Commander of the 82nd Airborne Division Maj Gen Brandon Tegtmeier and his “command element,” members of his headquarters staff, have been ordered to deploy to the Middle East as the Pentagon and White House weigh whether to send the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East for possible land operations.

There has been speculation that the US would use ground forces to possibly take Kharg Island or for other missions inside Iran. This would be a first step needed to plan for such a contingency.

NYT was first to report yesterday that the Pentagon was weighing whether to send the 82nd Airborne.

BREAKING: Three heavy bombers of the U.S. Air Force are currently conducting heavy strikes on the underground missile base of the IRGC Aerospace Force in Yazd, central Iran (Al-Qadir missile base). A total of six bunker-buster bombs have been dropped on the site by either B-1B heavy bombers flown from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom or B-2A Spirit stealth bombers flown directly from Whiteman AFB in the United States.

Bill O’Reilly breaks down why the Iran conflict is far more strategic than most people realize.

He predicts the Trump administration is already working a backchannel deal with Beijing over oil — and explains why the U.S. can’t just keep bombing Iran:

O’REILLY: “Because of the economy and China.”

“China’s a big player here.”

“80% of all Iranian oil is sold to China. 80%.”

“China needs oil, it gets it from Putin, it gets it from Iran.”

“Now I believe there’s a backdoor deal being manufactured now between the Trump administration and Beijing about oil.”

“You haven’t heard China say much about Iran, but China’s in there and China does not want all the oil refineries bombed in Iran if it can’t replace that oil.”

“That’s HUGE! It’s enormous.”

“So there’s a lot of components, there’s a lot of stuff swirling around.”

Trump will be speaking soon today at the swearing in ceremony, he will probably have something very interesting to say to maybe shore up confidence in an agreement with Iran to end this war.

We have a lot of fire power and leverage there already and more on the way.

The addition of the 82nd Airborne Division to the troops sent to the region is significant. They are added to:

1) The 31st and 11th Marine Expeditionary Units (close to five thousand marines).
2) A company-sized element from the 75th Ranger Regiment (152 Rangers). They are are specialists in seizing airfields and conducting surgical raids to capture or kill high-value targets or secure nuclear materials.
3) 50,000 U.S. troops permanently stationed in Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan and roughly 18,000 reinforcements.

This is a force large enough for a mission to seize and hold Kharg Island, and not enough for an invasion of the mainland. They will be ready to operate by the end of the month. Trump gave a deadline for March 27 and is trying to how he means business if they say no. They will say no. The potential for escalation to a full ground war to secure bridgeheads and avenge losses will be great.

quote:

A senior U.S. official tells me: The 82nd Airborne Division headquarters has received an order from the Pentagon to deploy to the Middle East along with several infantry brigades of thousands of soldiers
Why it matters: This is a significant additional reinforcement to the U.S. force structure in the region ahead of a possible ground operation in Iran

Those points have been obvious from the start. The only people who didn't realize that were not paying attention or willfully blind. I'm sure this was discussed with China early on; stay out of the way and you'll get your oil.

But we had the usual suspects on this board suggesting the US was too weak or scared to stop Iranian tankers from moving through the Strait of Hormuz.
