They want to pressure them to nominate Biden and Harris officially first

He wants to wait and see who the VP nominee will be on August 12th.

It was basically “we don’t want to be unfair to JB Pritzker or Gavin Newsome, or whoever the Democratic VP nominee will be, so let’s set a date after your convention”

The crowd is killing the rhythm of the speech.

Philadelphia, Detroit and Milwaukee.

3 of the most corrupt Democrat machines in the country.

You would think Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati would be similar.

Eh, part of it is Vances’ lack of experience of how to command the crowd. He’s stopping too much to cheer with them and it’s coming off a little amateurish. As are some of the off the cuff things like “if Trump says it’s ok” idk. Not overly impressed.

JD Vance might be the biggest populist in the GOP.

It’s clear this is what Trump wants the future of the GOP to be.

"We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate," a campaign spokesperson said.

That’s a fair assessment. It’s good speech but sort comes across like a good speech at a rehearsal dinner.

I agree. He’s giving them room to chant with his pauses.

He’ll get better quickly because the talent is there.

This is a complete and unequivocal 180 degree swing of the GOP platform. This is heavy Perot territory, anti-NAFTA...this is Midwest rhetoric for sure. The Trump campaign understands the South is a (mostly) sweep for the most part and only has to win the Rust Belt to win the election.
