Ocasio-Cortez bans media from event in her district

Upon returning to her district after a highly publicized media and campaigning tour across the country, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez apparently needed a break from the media. So, her campaign banned the press from a community event in Corona, New York, according to the Queens Chronicle.
The decision to bar members of the media from the event was an eyebrow-raising move for one of the most recognizable political candidates in the nation at the moment, although her campaign spokesman called it an “outlier.”
“We wanted to help create a space where community members felt comfortable and open to express themselves without the distraction of cameras and press. These were the first set of events where the press has been excluded,” spokesman Corbin Trent said. “This is an outlier and will not be the norm. We’re still adjusting our logistics to fit Alexandria’s national profile.”

@Ocasio2018 is in for a rough time on Capitol Hill -- where reporters roam freely at all hours of the day and night -- if this is her attitude toward the press

Ah, so she just got around to reading the second chapter in the socialist handbook.

First, no one from the Left will bat an eye. They are fine with this.
Second, someone will record what is said and it will probably (eventually) leak. It will just be some Progressive group think session. Nothing shocking because they are clear in what their agenda is.

Bold move. Seems like it would have helped her enjoy her 15 mins of fame a little more.

She’s an economic illiterate, but this is a non issue. She was doing a town hall in her local borough. It makes complete sense that she would have concerns that the locals would be less comfortable discussing issues if a horde of media showed up and recorded their every word.

Unfortunately, it will last much longer than 15 minutes.
This woman is going to congress, and nothing can prevent that from happening, where she will likely remain for years.

Replying to @Ocasio2018 @seungminkim
And how does the presence of reporters make people feel unsafe?

They can't spout all their hate and evil promises in front of some of the media. Most of the media would cover for them and praise them though.

But but but Trump had his supporters boo the media. The media never felt so threatened.

Those pesky clips and sound bytes. We’ll have no more of those.

To be fair, plenty on the left have said this isn't cool. I was shocked, frankly.
The stupidest part is the event was open to the public, livestreamed on her website but she claims the event was "designed for residents to feel safe."
She's not good dealing with detractors. Hard to defend the indefensible.

Will be interesting to see if the left treats this the same as they do when Trump attacks media
