The great purge ruined the military.

The Deep State runs DC, not a POTUS. I can remember Trump “Declassification “ of Documents so they could be viewed by the public, and the DS just ignored his order and to this day said Docs have not been seen. FOIA lawsuits take years and by then the info is moot. Biden can do anything and the DS will support it, but Trump or DeSantis will be ignored. There will be 1000 lawsuits filed on top of ‘misplaced’ docs if any real Conservatives try to stop the Authoritarian Fascist State. And they will gas light the cities just like last time, urn them down and send the heathen warriors to the Burbs if need be. It’s a Marxist revolution and we all know what that ultimately looks like.

I have no reason to believe that will actually happen and several good ones to believe it won’t. Don’t let your desire to see something happen impact your judgement on whether or not it will. A lot of sports fans who gamble lose money doing that.

My nephew was the youngest colonel in the army. Bright future, excellent officer, tops of class, etc. He was one of the first idiot Obama targeted.

I remember the multiple drills of the nuclear "strategic" arms officers to see if they would turn the key, and the flushing out of a lot of officers because they wouldn't. I feared that it was in prep for him to nuke the hell out of Israel or some of our other allies.

I was discussing something along these lines with a friend who is a civilan consultant to the military and is a retired Marine officer. He has interacted with much of the top Marine and Navy brass up to SecNav. He is of the opinion that if Trump gets back in office he should fire all Generals and Admirals. He says none of them got their star without politics and arse-kissing. He even went further to say that he would fire half of the Marine and Army Colonels and Navy Captains - so many of those in these ranks are purely political placements. He said the there is currently enough talent below the rank of General or Admiral that the military would see no ill effects.

Somewhat true, but not insurmountable to a committed change-agent.
The president runs the executive branch. If he really wants something release, it will be released.
