Trump won cause Hillary Clinton decided she had it in the bag after cooking up a win in the Dem primaries and Bernie Bros stayed home. The Bernie Bros woulda voted for Obama without question and this Obama does better than Hillary just on that alone...

Obama was a political neophyte as well. Don’t give him too much credit. He served a whopping 4 months in the Senate before running for president.
He delivered a nice speech though. And if we’re being honest, he faced virtually zero public criticism. He had, by far, the easiest presidency in my lifetime in terms of opposition rhetoric and media scrutiny.

Before Bernie Sanders, Democrats never even had a candidate like him… he had the audacity to say quiet parts out loud…
Here’s the fact. Compared to every other democracy on earth, the Overton Window of American politics is way to the right of everyone else’s, both Democrats and Republicans. We talk about the RINOs never pushing back on things Obama said, but we have an equal number of DINOs that never push back meaningfully on Republican policy. They should have codified abortion as the law of the land, they should have indexed minimum wage to inflation, a lot of things they should have did but didn’t have the courage to do.

It was stagnant for 8 years of Obama. Minimal gains when there was nowhere to go but up after the 2008 recession. Then Trump takes office and consumer confidence + regulation cuts almost instantly jump started the economy. A ham sandwich as president would have saw a better economy than Obama.
