Now, NASA thinks we will discover life on another planet in 5-20 years, so I guess the race is on.

It would change everything. I don’t think people are ready or capable of processing this. I wonder if we can do space travel with these things too. How would the travel industry change? Are airlines going to be obsolete when we have physics defying busses that can get you from L.A. to New York in seconds?

Look, maybe there are idiot aliens. That possibility exists. Similarly, the possibility exists that we are alone in the universe. But ET that can travel thru space/time/warp drive or whatever they used to get to US.... and they crash?

I'm gonna roll the dice and disagree with that theory.

If we are going off the premise of crashed UFO retrieval tech that has been being sat on for decades, the first mention I have ever seen of this stuff, and have seen it persistently since, is that the retrieval of these craft led to a meeting between President Eisenhower and gray aliens from another planet. The story goes that at this meeting they basically signed a treaty. The government allowed the aliens to abduct a certain number of people per year, and in exchange the aliens would give us technology. The people that were to be abducted were to be returned with no memory of what had happened, but the aliens have been not keeping that end of the bargain and they don't always return victims. The aliens aren't above lying.

^^ that's all from memory, may be wrong, probably is wrong, but goes hand-in-hand with the story about taking down their craft with radar early in the game.

The idea was that they started popping up in our skies when they detected we had developed atomic weaponry and along the same time we developed radar. Something about the radar was messing up their craft and we captured a number, leading to the meeting with Eisenhower.

That entire story though, is one that I don't buy. And honestly, if that's how it rolls out, I won't buy it. I'm just giving the story.

I favor the Breakaway Civilization hypothesis.

It's gonna be interesting to see how this goes moving forward. What "answers" we get. We cannot trust anything they tell us on these matters. What's most important isn't the story, but the technology release. The ends justify the means in this case.

Why not both?
