NOLA: "USSC cuts off US Census Count and that's bad for Louisiana"

This could cost Louisiana a congressional seat and billions of dollars in federal money over 10 years. The self-response rate in New Orleans is 57% with one in five households in the CBD/Warehouse District submitting the form.
NOLA
We’re dead last on the total count list, and we’re darn near last on the self-response, or self-report, list. That means we’re throwing away millions of dollars because not enough of our family, friends and neighbors have taken less than 10 minutes to complete the census survey.
As of Monday, our state is dead last among the 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. when it comes to total household enumeration. We’ve improved to 60.1% with our self-response rates, an important factor for more accurate counts because individuals and families provide their own reports via mail, telephone or online.
"The harms caused by rushing this year’s census count are irreparable," she added. "And respondents will suffer their lasting impact for at least the next 10 years."

Will cut a Democrat seat maybe.
And Louisiana is not a hot spot that people are moving to for great jobs, amazing scenery, and beautiful climate. I say this as a Louisiana native.
Louisiana is falling behind the rest of the South.

Well no shite. 4 of 5 warehouse district and CBD condos aren’t primary residences.

I have no problem with this. I would love to save billions of tax dollars from waste in the hands of our corrupt state government.

some questions:
1. how is it fedgov's fault that locals won't respond?
2. how do you know how many haven't responded if they haven't been counted?
3. if they are violating the law by not responding, do you want fedgov to jail them?

Just another reason to leave.

How long would Rudy Giuliani have to live in NO before he could run for mayor? That place needs a serious political intervention.

Louisiana is schizophrenic. A super-majority of Republicans in the legislature, yet elect a corrupt, anti-business Dem for governor - twice.

It's Louisiana...just fill in the blanks with anything good and it will be true. Unfortunately.

What’s bad for Louisiana is our 1974 Edwin Edwards Constitution that makes Louisiana the only big government and big tax state in the South. The rest of the South is booming economically while we molder away to nothing.
All the other Southern states have a vibrantly growing population, but we continue to decline. Our children have to flee Louisiana for economic opportunity.
We need to stop voting for big state politicians and rewrite our constitution.
For the children, and the parents who wish to live near their grandchildren!

Please always say “Republicans” in quotes when referring to our legislature. This is the same body that was headed for years by “Republican” John Alario.

They should expand the lake to include NOLA. Would make for some good fishing. Wouldn’t have to worry about spending money on levees and pumps. Save the state and country plenty money. It’s a cesspool anyway.

Rino’s. They are all Rino’s. Hell most of them were democrats or came from democrat families in the 90’s.

I filled mine out. Wasn’t that hard.
ETA: was it rushed this year? What’s the difference in how they handled it this year vs other years and how did covid come into play? Not saying it didn’t legit asking so I know.

Fair enough - I thought I had a decent reputation on here for slamming Louisiana "Republicans" pretty hard and pretty consistently. I almost universally say that Louisiana "Republicans" are the worst Republicans of all - folks whom one cannot trust in a fight.
Look no further than the governor's mansion. So, fair enough - Louisiana "Republicans" are schizophrenic.

Maybe the shitty economy and bad leadership has driven people away.
Just saying...people not having primary residences in the warehouse district isn’t the only reason NOLA will post bad results.
