I heard the tail end of it on the radio. Nola is owed 100+ million on these tickets. Is the state really helping them with this? I hope not because it’s complete bullshite as I’ve had multiple in school zones when school was not in session and got tired f disputing so I started tossing them.

Just one of over a million reasons to just stay the f*ck out of Orleans Parish altogether.

I am pretty sure they are unconstitutional as you have a right to face your accuser. I thought this got taken away in other states for that reason.

I am 100% with you on the communist red light cameras. Should be outlawed with the quickness

But schools have kids in school during closed days for many reasons. Remedial or extra schooling. Reading club or band practice. Many other functions with kids. They have to run the flashers.

I never speed in school zone if flashing just in case.

That doesn’t matter at all. If school is not in session the cameras are NOT ALLOWED on but they are anyway

Slow down.

Just because it’s not within the hours, children could still be at school. If you are speeding, try leaving your house a little earlier. Plan ahead.

How do you know its mot on session, did you stop and try to go inside? Just because most of kids are out doesn’t mean others are.

You need to check your state/city laws and also check statutes that allow a school to flash lights when “any child activity” is going on inside the school (not football games).

Someone has the magic button to turn on/off on those days.

They aren’t criminal citations but civil under La law.

You shouldn’t speed in a school zone but these cameras aren’t about kid’s safety and we all know that. These people who profit through these cameras could care see about kid’s safety.

Red light tickets of any kind are completely unconstitutional. A traffic infraction can't be applied to a vehicle. They must be applied to a person.

Better yet, if it's not within hours, that means the kids are at home. So, drive 20 mph when passing houses. Try leaving your house a little earlier.

Got one for doing 26 in a 25 (not school zone). If true I will work against all my state reps.

Wasn't one of Teedy's campaign promises to get rid of them?

I’m not in favor of the speed cameras but I’m fricking tired of people driving 50-60 mph down my street in a 25 zone. My daughter got T boned in up town last month by someone running a red light doing at least 50. Totaled out her brand new HRV. They sped off never to be heard from. I don’t have much sympathy for assholes.

100% with you and against any traffic camera used to issue tickets.

The OP needs to also look at his state/local codes and see what the law says about “when” they can flash. If its clear that on “normal” school days is only time then he could use date/time stamps to get them dismissed.

My point is each state and city has different rules about when a school can flash lights. If his are illegal tickets at least he could get rid of them. But if they are legal then he can ignore but has to always worry about getting booted.

Plus the other fact all cameras should be outlawed as illegal. Have to make sure you vote and then can talk to those who want your vote to make it an issue.
