Target was unaware of this

quote:

A Target store is coming to New Orleans East.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell delivered that news at a community meeting Monday night at the Household of Faith church, garnering a warm reception from dozens of people who had come to hear Cantrell's plans for the 2023 city budget.

Cantrell said the mega retailer had closed on the former Lowe’s store near Read Boulevard and Interstate 10 (map), a deal she said her administration had worked on with Target and Lowe’s for more than a year. Target has several locations in the New Orleans metro area, but this will be the first one in Orleans Parish.

And then NOLA.com has to update the story...

quote:

But on Tuesday, Target spokesperson Jacqueline DeBuse said the retailer had not closed on any sale in New Orleans.

DeBuse indicated the mega retailer might consider opening a New Orleans store, but had not committed to any development.

Pretty damn funny. Even woke Target doesn’t want to touch the Wild, Wild East

Any CEO who chooses to open up a store in that f*cking jungle called New Orleans East should be fired immediately.

All you have to do is look at every fricking store that was out there in the 70s and 80s and see that they all f*cking abandoned that sh!thole because they were robbed f*cking blind.

To be fair, there probably has been some ongoing discussions and even an agreement, with Target making a soft commitment but not wanting to announce until everything was finalized...

But Teedy couldn't keep her trap shut and now they have to pretend like nothing is close to done.

Until Teedy cleans up the East and makes it only a little dangerous, she ain't getting a gas station much less a Target

What she meant was "anyone in that area is a walking target".

What an idiot. They may have wanted to put one there, but with her announcement appropriately zoned properties immediately went up 50% and likely killed any potential deal.

Teedy running her mouth may have killed any potential deal.

If they can’t trust Da Mayor before putting all the money into a one stop looting shop, why would they trust her when they are stuck there?

Considering land values in the east, a 50% increase may only cost you a thousand bucks.

She was right though. There is always a target in New Orleans East

I did sort of ponder that immediately after I posted.

I still don’t think Teedy’s proclamations standing alone would move them even a little.

Why is that?

Probably racism.

Too expensive to put a store in the Quarter, not enough money in the world to put a store in the 9th or the East.

What she really means is that NOLA East is getting a store that’s going to be a target.
