No doubt this is what our founders wanted when they forgot about term limits for Congress

The difference is our founders were honorable men so there was never a thought in their mind that we would have the scum in Congress we do today

I think they also fell into the trap of assuming the voters would do a good job. Having representative government was sort of a new thing back then and I don't think anyone really understood the weight of incumbent advantage.

They also didnt see advancement in modern medicine. Most of these dudes wouldnt see their 80’s or have the financial ability to “serve” for 50 yrs

you understand that before the 17th amendment the senate served at the pleasure of the state legislatures and the framers set congressional terms at two years.

The Antifederalists certainly did not trust men to always do the right thing. Just like petitioning for the Bill of Rights, they were met with the opposition saying these things are already implied. Madison was adamant that we could not leave ambiguity to those in power.

Another difference was the access to your rep. Each rep represented about 50k citizens. Now they represent 3/4 of a million. We should increase the count to 1 rep per county/parish, at a minimum. That would get us closer to the representation that we had at the beginning.

A HUGE element in the Constitution is checks against tyrannical authority. They didn’t trust government power AT ALL.

They'd been dealing with scumbag bureaucrats under King George. They knew full well what corrupt men in power were like.

Many of our founders were shite bags too. Many were motivated by their own economic self interests.
Some of the founders wanted to use independence and new govt to remain rich and powerful. Today’s shite bags want ti use govt to get rich and powerful as a result of being elected.
