It certainly shouldn't be of any concern for political discussion.

Wait. Let me get this straight, because I would hate to wrongfully attribute absolute idiocy to you. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Political protests by the largest sports league in the country which dominated news cycles, made household names of players to people who have no idea what offsides means and caused a steep decline in ratings IS NOT considered "political discussion?"

Your parents rightfully hate you and are embarrassed to claim you as their own

The NFL ratings were going to go back up regardless. If anything it proves that boycotts are full of shite.

Hell, most of the folks on this board that claimed they were done with the NFL were caught on other boards talking about watching the NFL anyway.

Oh wow a spelling mistake...GOT ME...let me return the favor...

The Kap ad campaign was very succesful

See any misspelled words in your post? Nahhhh, couldn't be amirite? The irony of your ignorance knows no bounds.

NIKE missed NA expectations, lower than expected NA growth and they LOWERED their NA future growth...AGAIN...

You quote the CFO saying it was "substantial growth"

I bet your investment portfolio is AMAZING. Just listen to the c-levels during their earnings calls, they have NO ulterior motives, if they say it's substantial it must be amazing! BUY BUY BUY.

quote:

September, but the stock is still up 10% year to date
Oh wait...you want to talk stocks again...your own article outlines how international sales attributed to this. INTERNATIONAL...where Kap is a SUPERSTAR right!?!?!?!

Question, WHERE IS THE KAP ADD? Why did it get pulled?

Where are the NFL kneelers? Why did they stop?

Answer...the backlash...it worked.

Not against Nike, pal

Dumbass, the article said exactly the opposite of you in reference to the NA and international markets, did you even read the title?

But you have all of those links and verification

You're OP in this thread was a fail

The NFL dominated the American sports television landscape in 2018.

Of the 50 most-watched sporting events in 2018, 40 were NFL games, according to Sports Media Watch.

That includes the seven most-watched events of the year: The Super Bowl, the two conference championship games, two divisional playoff games, a wild card game and the annual Thanksgiving game in Dallas. No. 8 was the college football national championship game, No. 9 was the Winter Olympics opening ceremony and No. 10 was another NFL divisional playoff game.

To give an indication of the gap between the NFL and the other major sporting events, the 40th most-watched NFL game, the Rams-Bears Sunday night game, had 19.39 million viewers. The most-watched NBA game, Game 2 of the NBA Finals, had 18.47 million viewers. The most-watched baseball game, Game 5 of the World Series, had 17.64 million viewers. (Football also easily beats basketball on the college level; the college basketball national championship game had 15.97 million viewers, while there were six college football games that had more than 16 million viewers.)

All 50 of the most-watched events were football games or Olympics broadcasts.

How about the fact that politics is no longer part of the NFL experience, and more teams were in playoff contention by the 15th and 16th games of the season. This has been a great year for football IMHO.

Excellent points, but if people weren't watching, would they matter? I can't speak for everyone, but I stopped watching any NFL games that didn't involve the Saints. I love football, I'm a vet, and this was my happy medium. Once the kneeling stopped, I began watching other games. It would seem as though others did the same. FWIW, the reasoning behind the protests were not an issue. The Police, for a varity of reasons (some legit imho), have become more militarized. A small percentage of a-hole cops overstep their authority and abuse their power. Black males were disproportionately abused or even killed. Hence, the resulting protests. In spite of my support for monitoring and addressing policing issues (some major), I didn't like feeling as though the flag was being disrespected...so I bailed on the NFL. My feelings on the militarization of the police hasn't changed. However, without the protests, I'm good with watching non-Saint related games.

Ratings went up because the games got better. You're whiny base had about as large of an impact on the nfl as it did Nike.

Wait. So you are saying that the games in 2017 and 2016 were not good? The game is different and better this year compared to those 2? Is this really the platform you are choosing to stand on??? Looks like you built it in marsh, because this shite you peddling ain't holding. Don't be a daft bitch

No. What ignorant, paid entertainers say about politics is not worthy of discussion IMO. It is not relevant, at all, unless you care what the amorphous "they" says about it on the internet. It doesn't affect policy at all; Kaepernick's opinion is no more worthy of discussion in the political arena than any average uninformed person. I refuse to lower my standards on what is worthy of actual discussion just because the media likes to cover drama

I agree with you generally. It was sort of hard to pretend it away there for awhile, though. It was pretty much all that was being discussed before every broadcast and in pretty much all "football" discussions at the time. I would suggest that was likely the big point of contention/distaste there for a lot of people.

The matchups were better especially for most of the Sunday and Monday night games. Your side is just trying to pump their chest over something they had almost no impact on
