i know what the topic is, but again, the reason why Catholic sex abuse gets all the headlines is because it's typically more scandalous due to the fact that a large majority of those abused are very young (pre-pubescent) and male... along with the widespread cover up...

but it's not that it happens vastly more often than protestant denominations....

And to me, this is nearly as bad as the same-sex and kiddie diddling in itself. The fact that there’s been numerous cases of ‘looking the other way’ that work their way up through many levels while it’s continually covered up and left unreported is what proves it’s a systemic issue from the top down.

This isn’t a rogue priest in Smalltown USA that’s preying on kids while operating solo and keeping it secret, it’s the many different levels above him also knowing Smalltown USA priest is preying on kids and keeping it a secret. Hell, in some cases the Smalltown priest is just one of many that are known about and actively swept under the rug.

I don’t know how you go about fixing that without gutting the whole organization from the top all the way down.
