I agree but you can’t coddle them. The point in the article is simply giving them a home won’t fix them.
I support offering them rehabilitation though detox, mental health services, and jobs programs. But also some people aren’t fixable and it needs to be a 3 strike system. After that you’re never breathing free air again, either institutionalize them or other options

Many more are just people who enjoy living on the fringes of society. These are people who legitimately can support themselves if they wanted. They are living the way they do out of choice. For the few who are mentally ill they should be given refuge. For the ones on drugs there are several treatment options, but most would just rather stay high. So out of all of those there is only one group who really needs help. The rest should just be shipped off to a remote island.

Overwhelming homeless are dope heads of have gotten too old to be dope heads. Plain and simple. That’s the major issue here.
