They write the tax code and then hate when someone follows it.

Why are we worried about only income taxes? What about total taxes?

I was recently advised by a west coast law firm that dubs themselves as business advisors. Essentially, they told me they were going to restructure my businesses and file for some non profits and told me not to take a salary so I'd have very little, if any personal taxation.

Trump said it best, there are two tax codes: one for the regular people and one for the people who know how to use it. I'm paraphrasing, but that's the jist of it.

That only makes me respect him all the more.

Reduce your tax liability and enjoy your earnings. It's yours, not theirs.

Sounds an awful lot like Harry Reid's infamous lie that Romney had paid no taxes.
The point is to either fool the foolish, or goad Trump into releasing truth.

There's all sorts of ways a multi-millionaire will owe no Fed Taxes.

A) Spend money that's already been taxed.

B) Invest in Munis.

C) Invest in stocks that don't pay dividends (and don't sell any at a profit that year, or net out gains/losses).

D) Own real estate where the depreciation exceeds/matches the income.

Those are the simple ones from a 10 second google search without the aid of a high priced tax professional (most of which I already knew, but I don't do real estate, so don't know the details of depreciation).

PS (edit - missed M. A. Ryland's post above) - hey, didn't they already try/fail on this with Romney? I guess enough believe it, that's all they care about. Bass-turds.

It looks like he may not be paying because he's not much in the black. He was plowing his NBC money into failing businesses.

quote:

Ultimately, Mr. Trump has been more successful playing a business mogul than being one in real life.

“The Apprentice,” along with the licensing and endorsement deals that flowed from his expanding celebrity, brought Mr. Trump a total of $427.4 million, The Times’s analysis of the records found. He invested much of that in a collection of businesses, mostly golf courses, that in the years since have steadily devoured cash — much as the money he secretly received from his father financed a spree of quixotic overspending that led to his collapse in the early 1990s.
