Yes. I know this from an officer involved shooting. It is absolutely the case. You don't get to be a ln armchair hero in those situations.

I was raised by a police officer. I know that benefit of the doubt left when he fought back. Those guys want to go home to their kids.
Makes sense. You see this more emotionally, less rationally.

So police can kill people who are not actually armed if the police believe they thought a person was armed? You think that will hold up?
Not can, but do - yeah it happens. You just mentioned the fog of war. It's a real thing. Mistakes happen.

You know of an officer-involved shooting where a cop killed an unarmed person and got away with it because they said they thought the decedent was armed without any objective evidence to support that belief ? Link?
Even Tamir Rice had a fake gun

Lol for real? That's retarded. So you as being in a civilian household gives you some clarity LO households don't have? What a pompous arse.

They knew that he was armed. They did not know whether he was still armed. They aren’t going to trust their lives to guessing at how many weapons a person (who they knew to have at least one weapon), has.
“Idk, he might have another gun but I didn’t actually see one” isn’t a persuasive legal defense for the use of deadly force.

Needless death.
So stupid that agents can't just choke people out. It's almost risk free w/ the slightest bit of training.
Would have been EASY just to rear naked choke that vegan into unconsciousness, then go from there.

I'm not going to link it because it still pisses me off (that the a-hole got off), but yeah - Daniel Shaver was gunned down by Mesa PD, while on his knees and hands above his head. Unarmed. And the cop got off.

You are so bad at arguing. This was not murder. Hell, we all note using your own words "fog of war" training kicks in. You can't wait for all facts. I rest my case your honor

It did in the case of Jeronimo Yanez.

This is the fog of war stuff I was trying to reference

He just checkmated himself. He's really bad at law.

I should have been more precise with my language and not said "get off"
Not charged is what I should have said.

We've got a PICTURE of the guy's orally amputated finger. Are you going to argue one of the other ice agents bit it off, counsellor?
The guy who was killed is not the person who bit his finger.

It is certainly serious physical bodily injury.

it still depends.
Nothing in the video indicates this version of events.
Now, does that negate the possibility that the officers create a narrative around that fact, after the fact? No.

They should’ve killed the finger biter.

That makes sense because the video doesn't indicate that seems likely

Probably shouldn’t have FAFO then
Posted on 1/24/26 at 6:02 pm to LSUTANGERINE
Shouldn’t have brought a gun and shouldn’t be antagonizing armed forces. Sucks for him
