In a poll conducted a few days ago by NBC News / Wall Street Journal, a record 57% of Americans responded that they want MORE government in their lives, and that the government should be doing more to solve people’s problems.
That’s the highest percentage since they started asking this question in 1995.
In fact, 57% is nearly double what people responded in the mid-90s.

When it comes down to it, modern Americans don't really want to be free. They want to be safe and lazy.

The number is probably closer to 90%.
The differences are in how different people want their "more government" manifested.

It's only a matter of time before this country leaps to the left

Millennials aren't the generation who instituted the socialist gov programs that will bankrupt this country.

Yeah, we have gotten past the point of no return.

Sad. I need to be supported more important than I support myself.

We have likely reached the point of no return

It's bound to happen. It's the natural progression of every society. Those in power want more power. Over time, people keep giving it to them because they keep promising more and more in return for the power they take. Then at some point, the two way street becomes a one way street and those in power assert it over the people. Eventually the people revolt and overthrow the government and the process starts all over again.

We hate the polls, don't we folks?

This is the product of what University Academia has done to our masses over a relatively short period of time.

Especially when it is looking like the campaign promises are going to swap one bad government program for just another fricking bad government program. Example… Ryancare and the "deal" being made right now.

It's no surprise that people indoctrinated in Government Public Schools will grow up to vote for more government in their lives.

And yet...
Most people who claim they support themselves and rag on the "supported" are the loudest bitchers when TOPS may be cut.
"But how will my kids go to school?"

During the GE I got into a deep political discussion with 2 Bernie Bots at a backyard BBQ, when it was all hashed out they finally admitted they wanted socialism.

Millennials
Just playing devil's advocate here, but maybe the jump in the numbers are from the ~50% of boomers that are retiring with less than $100 grand set aside for the next 15-25 years and are looking around thinking "Oh frick NOW what do I do?"
Some new entitlements from Uncle Sam would sure hit the spot
