Also the argument is about the bigger economic draw not population. New Orleans is one of the few draws that this state has. Let me know when EBR or JP are bigger economic draws

Am I wrong or did I just read that in terms of tax revenue the 3 biggest contributors to the state coffers are Jefferson, Orleans, and then EBR.
I don’t live in New Orleans but I know tons of young people who do including all my kids and it’s a booming, fun, busy city for those 18-40 years old. It’s not a dump. It’s VERY active and anyone who is there on weekends can attest. I think people who don’t visit don’t really know what’s going on. And no, I don’t know anyone who goes to New Orleans East. That’s a whole other subject and is not what we consider part of New Orleans in conversation. And believe me when I say those locals don’t go to bourbon st which is 1/6000 of the city. It’s basically for dumb tourist and punks and thugs.

New Orleans, if run well, would be the mechanism that prevents the state from declining. Unfortunately, it is a disaster. And, it's a disaster because of people like you and Cubbies.

But people live in JP due to the proximity to Nola. Don’t fool yourself.
The original boom in population was due to people looking to expand into suburbs for a variety of reasons. Like housing, available land, the introduction of cars to make commutes shorter so you can live further away.
Just like any suburban place, its success is directly related to what happens in its neighboring larger city. If Nola does better economically it’s better for those who live in JP too. And the reverse is true too, when Nola does poor JP definitely feels that.
JP wouldn’t exist as a stand alone place if it were say 100 miles away.
Nola is the draw
