I have recently learned that Latino/Latina is someone from a Latin country and has no relevance to ethnicity.
You could be Chinese, you move to Mexico - boom you are Latino.
It’s just a regional indicator. Sounds stupid, and that’s not the way most people see it, but it’s true.
You can be white, black, Asian, native - and be Latino.

Mayor Moreno is the President of the Board, but the utility is governed by 11 members, including the City Council who has oversight authority. The state also authorizes its structure and powers, from a legal standpoint.
Well how long was this woman on the City Council? If only she had exercised some actual oversight. This is like the third mayor in a row who is acting like they have no responsibility or control over the S&WB. It’s getting old.

You realize that she is the head of the S&WB, right?
Yes. That's why I feel sorry for her. Duh. She inherited a shitshow.
I'm not a Moreno supporter. I wanted Arthur Hunter to be mayor. Moreno did frick all as a city council member for the last 8 years. I don't have high hopes for her tenure as mayor.

Not directed at cubbies but the board in general. As an outsider I have long heard of the issues yall have with the SWB.
What exactly needs to be done to fix it? examples....

S&WB needs a mass exorcism
They’ve had 3-4 water mains break within three blocks of me in the last 3 years. Ground shifting, water table, old, etc. going to be major issues for years to come. They have emergency crews on call in Metairie to take care of issues that pop up. The patch gets done within hours and they schedule a repair for later, usually within a couple of weeks.

Not really.

From Wikipedia:
White Latin Americans are estimated to make up approximately
31.8% to 39% of the total population in Latin America, which is roughly 178 to 219 million people. This group constitutes the second largest racial-ethnic group in the region, behind mestizos (mixed indigenous and European heritage).

Much of the infrastructure and equipment is more than 100 years old. When something breaks, engineers have to fabricate parts from scratch because they are obsolete and out of production. Up until last year, all of the pumps were powered by ancient turbines that break frequently. Now just most of the pumps are powered by the ancient turbines. That's why all of the pumps are rarely functioning at the same time.
It has a very complicated governance structure bogged down by politicians and political appointees instead of actual experts.

The NOLA S&WB used have one of the best engineering departments in the world. They still have electric motors driving water pumps from the 1920s. The Wood pump was invented there and the vertical can pump got it's start there. It's kind of sad what it has become after 50 years of poor leadership and corruption.
Look at a picture of 1930 leadership vs 2026 leadership and you will see why

Aren’t the Lo-Lift pumps made in Welsh, LA still in use?
