Mayor Helena Moreno’s administration is scrambling to replenish New Orleans’ bank account just weeks before it would otherwise run dry.
City officials want to delay $35 million in infrastructure projects and use reimbursements and rainy day funds to plug a $110 million cash hole created in July when Moreno backed away from a plan to sell city bonds amid pushback from state officials.
Without those measures, the city could blow through the remaining $39 million it has on hand as early as August 25, according to Chief Administrative Officer Joe Giarrusso.
The council is expected to vote on the first step of the plan — shifting capital bond funds to the city’s general fund — on Thursday. According to the plan, an array of road work, greenspace, and city-owned building improvements would see funding cuts.

New Orleans is a perfect example of what happens when too many stupid people are congregated in the same place.

Chocolate melts eventually…hahahaha
Is there one dem city that operates without always being broke and needing more theft of taxpayers?
What’s improved in New Orleans the last decade or two or three?

Still don't know why Landry is playing this game with Moreno and preventing her from issuing bonds.
So the Governor wants to ensure that the place becomes a shithole

Really?
I still remember how they got some ridiculous amount after Katrina to put in new pumps and instead the SWB sat on the money and continue to as we have ancient pumps that need replacement parts to be fabricated because they’ve been discontinued decades ago

We started the year with a 200 million hole.
Down to 110 is good progress.

Probably right but she’s being used as a scapegoat when landrieu and plenty of mayors before did worse than her and were twice as corrupt. They just sounded better while doing it.
She wasn’t smart enough to steal as much money as the others.
