What is making you stay in Orleans parish?

1. Extended family
2. Paying 15k/yr for overpopulated private schools
3. Restaurants
4. Culture

I just can’t fathom being a conservative and living there anymore.

If you marry a New Orleans girl, it's damn hard to peel them away from there.

I'm still here. Jefferson is too expensive up front--houses in New Metairie which should be in the 200s are now in the 400s. Hell, there are million dollar houses in Bucktown now.

Northshore is out of the question. Living there defeats any advantage of the NOLA metro.

Plus, having an actual NOLA address commands a degree of respect when talking with outsiders.

Finally, I have standing to gripe about LaToya. Most others posting the "NOLA sucks" threads sit comfortably in their Covington tract houses while I am here in the thick of it.

I voted against her twice then left.

They have work in other places, they also have houses too. I know, crazy concept.

Nola is a third world shite hole.

Covington track housing ?
Respect for having a New Orleans address?
Losing any advantage living on Northshore?

I honestly think there are people who have never left Orleans and Jefferson parish.

Bring them to a DFW community and it would fricking blow their minds.

I think a lot of people are in this boat lol.

It’s dumb and ridiculous.

But LITERALLY nothing is near as good as it was when these women were growing up.

We don’t even go into the city to eat anymore because the food is less desireable, the service sucks and you can’t go anywhere without fear of being mugged any time of day. What’s the point? Even Brightsen’s wasn’t good last time we went. The worst part about it was the service.

I’m so over this shithole and my campaign is about to ramp up.

What I am saying is that covington/Mandeville/Slidell is loaded with these McMansions where all of the houses look the same, no trees in the neighborhood, etc.

Yet living there defeats the chief advantage of the NOLA metro--its compactness. Instead, you are stuck 45 minutes across the lake to get to anything, and although I have never set foot in covington/mandeville, I have been to Slidell and I imagine it's pretty similar. There's just not much there besides chain stores.

But it is still Louisiana--so you have all the disadvantages (flooding, hurricanes, taxes, terrible roads, heat, crime etc) without the advantages--compactness, restaurants, bars.

This is 100% false. The DH Horton Community in Slidell maybe, but Mandeville and Covington both have unique, new, old and nice places to live. Some beautiful homes in the older parts of town.

How is this possible? How long have you lived in New Orleans?

Holy shite dude. How is this possible?!?!?

Do you have a computer with the internet?

Why do you need to be “compact”?

I’m now further convinced that there are a LOT of New Orleanians who have never left the parish.

This doesn’t make sense to me

restaurants, bars.

You do understand that there are restaurants and bars in other cities that are fully staffed and dying for your business? Right?

Several years. I have not had a reason to cross the lake. The farthest west I ever need to go is Kenner, the farthest east is the quarter from time to time.

And by no means am I defending Orleans Parish. It is a dumpster fire. If the state of Louisiana actually wanted to do something it would dissolve home rule and put the parish under state control, like Mississippi has done with Jackson and Missouri is doing with St. Louis.
