What struck me about this when I heard it was the amount of attention the VP of the USA was giving to a country like Ukraine at the time. Joe was calling Prosheko every other day after Trump won, and it was very consuming on Joe's conscious.
Well, if we knew then what we know now (and given hindsight by these revelations) it makes sense.
Not only did the dims find a pretty lucrative hive of free foreign "official" government oppo research, but they found the perfect laundering device.
