Gillette isn't discussing it as an idea in a political climate though.
Media today IS a political climate. You're acting like simply omitting references to lawmakers or government means an ad can't be political.
quote:
They are discussing it as an everyday real life situational thing.
Which does not exempt it from being political, as well.

Excellent summation.

Meaning their intersection is practically a mirror-image of their full shapes. Precisely the point I sought to convey.
Sounded more to me like you where trying to discredit my point about politics and culture sharing traits, but not being one in the same.

I've been talking to you this whole time. YOU'RE the one trying to discredit me based on a remarkably mundane description of a concept that YOU brought up.
See above. I wasn't trying to discredit you. I was just annoyed and wasn't going to jump in with you because from my point of view you were focusing on discrediting me rather than trying to have a conversation.

You can take that raggedy ol' high horse and ride right the frick on outta here with this. Gonna come at me with "you're better than this," over a fricking Venn diagram description and then call out others for condescension? The frick?
It seemed like you where being condescending. If I misread the situation, then I apologize.

Did they seriously cut to one of the TYT cvnts?
Is this really a commercial or some fan cut-up? Cutting to TYT, really?
I'm surprised they didn't show the Hoes Gotta Eat to clip from Boyz in the Hood.

all men
No. You're being disingenuous if you think this commercial was trying to say that. There where clearly two sides shown. You ignored the good side to focus on the bad.

Can you point to where any of this has to do with shaving?
Posted on 1/14/19 at 1:42 pm to BeeFense5
It has to do with Gilletes slogan they've had for a long time. The best a man can get. They are implying that a lot of men can get better.

Sure it was, unless you identify as something else

Did I even come to this board during all that fuss? I don't remember sharing any of my opinions here. You're just making assumptions.

I don’t usually boycott products, but seriously, frick you gillette.

why does it matter?
Gillette is part of P&G. P&G does massive amount of market research. They get to the level of discussing different shades of colors on their packaging. I can promise you they tested the frick out of it.
Hell, they are getting free advertising here. Yall are all upset about it, and you are just promoting gillette every time you post. If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be hysterical. No wait, it is hysterical.

That ad has Absolutely zero to do with the products they sell

No, dude, I was AGREEING with you that not everything social is political, and vice versa. My point is that the difference (i.e., what is purely social and what is purely political) is extremely small in the current climate. You brought up Venn diagrams, and I'm saying if there were a Venn diagram with one circle reading "politics," and the other reading "culture," the two circles would have like crescent moons on either side, their overlap would be so significant.
Then you called my description "bullshite." For some reason
Can we be done with fricking Venn diagrams now? Please?

I wasn't trying to discredit you.
Your comeback regarding (in your mind) my not being able to proffer an accurate description of a Venn diagram said otherwise.

I've always been fair with you and more willing to have a conversation than other liberals. You know that. I was focusing on the problem I had with your argument. I have no interest in discrediting you. If for no other reason than you're also Aggy. Discrediting you makes ya boi look bad

I'll recant my churlishness, as well. Not where I like to go, as a rule. It's distracting.

I never understand how targeted ads aiming to alienate people gets people like you giddy. It’s really strange.
You seem excited about this.

I eagerly await the reaction to the company that puts out the ad with images of a bunch of women shite-testing men, marrying only for money and status, emotionally abusing other women, and all the other aspects of toxic femininity and finishes with "Women need to do better". I am sure that will go swimmingly.
Oh, and for good measure, the ad will have a random guest appearance of some lightning rod radical misogynist like Milo Yiannopoulos for good measure just to stoke it a little more.

regardless of the message, I don't want a shaving company preaching to me about morals and how I should live my life, anymore than I want a waitress at a restaurant giving me a lecture on how to properly raise my children. It's inappropriate and it rightfully pisses people off.
