Actor Ryan Reynolds has publicly apologized for hosting his wedding at a former slave plantation.

In 2012, the “Deadpool” actor, and his now-wife, actress Blake Lively, tied the knot at Boone Hall in South Carolina, and the venue offered the kind of idyllic scenery fit for such an occasion, its checkered past as a former slave plantation was not so pleasant. Now, eight years and one massive Black Lives Matter movement later, Reynolds has apologized.

Speaking with Fast Company, Reynolds said that choosing Boone Hall for their wedding venue was a “giant f***ing mistake.”

“It’s something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for,” he said. “It’s impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy. Years ago we got married again at home—but shame works in weird ways. A giant f***ing mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action. It doesn’t mean you won’t frick up again. But repatterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn’t end.”

He has those Disney contracts to protect; same as Brees and his future network gig.

I grew up less than a mile from that plantation in Mt. Pleasant. That's crazy!

Sorry, are we not supposed to do anything with the land that formerly held slaves? We are really eliminating a lot of things lately that are loosely related to racism.

Just curious where the end point is.

Great! Now the social justice idiots will want to burn down Boone Hall...which would only take a match to accomplish. They'd best do it under the cover of darkness. We don't tolerate that BS here.

Does Ryan realize that land was there before it was a plantation? It didn't just appear on Earth in the 1700s

The idea that anyone gives a frick where one got married nearly a decade ago is mind bogglingly insane to me. Much less Ryan fricking Reynolds.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I honestly believe some of these people think "I need to get back into the spotlight, so I will apologize for some meaningless crap to get my name back out there"...

Honestly, Ryan Reynolds has to have enough money to ride off in the sunset, live more than comfortably the rest of his life and never surface in the public eye again... So, why the apology?

All part of erasing history... we were told it would stop at the flags, then the statues... so, where does it end...
