aren't hydrogen bombs set off by fission? what the frick is this dude even babbling on about? even if modern weapons don't create as much fallout the dust and smoke from the impact zone will be spread by the wind for miles. radiation sickness will still be a threat.

Tyson is sort of a joke among the real players in his field. He's a figurehead, not a visionary or a uniquely brilliant conceptualist. I'm not saying he's not smart. I think the cosmo-sciences need a face, but I really don't think they chose wisely with him.
He is so frequently vocal with social medias and every opportunity he can behind a camera that they're frequently catching stupid little blips like this over the many years he's been in the spotlight.
