Thanks John Roberts.

Where can this "9 days" be found in the Constitution?

I'd like to read the section for myself.

They counted ballots in the Gore v Bush situation until December. That is not a big deal. They tried to manufacture votes for Gore and just could not do it after counting everything 4 times.

My grandmother was born in 1934 in rural SC. They didn't have a car until she was older. Her parents either walked or took a wagon to vote in every election when she was little. And now we can't even be expected to stand in line and vote. We are a country of absolute pussies.

This was recounting the ballots. What they want in NC is for someone 9 days after the election to be like, oh, look what I found in a box in my trunk

That was not even close to the same scenario.

I don't think these idiots realize how unstable the United States will be if there isn't some resolution on election night. Every day where this issue is postponed = more riots, looting, arson, and anarchy in the streets of major metropolitans across the United States. The police do not have control right now either which makes this situation particularly dangerous and I'm afraid that a lot of innocent lives will be lost due to the stupidity of decisions like this.

There's a big difference between trying to find a reason to count an unmarked ballot and having a Supreme Court justice say a postmark doesn't have to be legible to be counted.

John Roberts is a vile, DC rodent.

Where does it say the election has to be on the first Monday in November?

It doesn't.

The Constitution mandates that election day be the same all over the country. As far as the process for the members of the Electoral College casting their votes, Article 2 has a lot of specific language. But as far as the general election of those electors...what we will do on Nov. 3...it only says this:

"The Congress may determine the time of choosing the electors, and the day on which they shall give their votes; which day shall be the same throughout the United States."

Congress has the power to set election day. The Constitution doesn't specifically discuss when the votes have to be counted.
