I met a Nazi in Skokie one time in 1978 when we were living in Illinois. He made Hitler look like a Cub Scout. He said he could tell from my accent that I wasn't a --- ---- --- and asked where I came from. When I told him, he cranked up his spiel, I guess thinking I would agree, put on an SS collar pin and join him passing out papers authored by the Devil on the corner he was working. I guess I was a huge disappointment to him, when I attempted to hand back his sheet and then dropped it on the ground at his feet when He told me I should just keep it.
Sadly, I found out later that the American Nazi Party was very active in Skokie because it was home to the largest population of Holocaust survivors in the world.
