I thought it was disrespectful but I didn’t care when other teams did it because I was proud of the Saints for standing, as they should. That changed in Carolina and it really pissed me off when they took a knee on foreign soil. That same foreign soil who were the original oppressors of our ancestors. They knelt against our county on the soil of our country’s original oppressor, that is inexcusable imo

Nah, they need to put the public in their place.

With a lower revenue haul and a decreased salary cap to show for it and ratings still trending down. Goodell?

I’m curious to see how far this is going to go

Wait until the next round of CBA negotiations when revenues are down, leading to lower salary caps, and the owners wanting the players to take a smaller slice of the total revenue pie since their protesting is what caused the pie to shrink. Should be fun to watch.

"We will not allow Mr. Wells' decision and subsequent media appearances to distract our players and organization from continuing to honor and support our military and veterans. We, as an organization, have decided to move on from this sad and divisive discourse and focus our attention on "supporting our military and veterans."

And how exactly are the Saints and NFL supporting the military and veterans?

wait, didn't Trump make it ok to attack military people and their families?

Reading comments on the Saints Facebook page makes me embarrassed to be a Saints fan. I'm assuming that's just a reflection of the NFL fanbase in general but the amount of liberal dumbasses who think kneeling in disrespect of the flag while at work because you have a political view, that is quite plainly an OPINION, is an appropriate and unquestionable thing to do is startling.

I can't help but wonder what they would do if conservative players made political protests against some concept or symbol that liberals hold sacred due to a political position that was highly controversial and unestablished. They'd lose their fricking minds.

I side more with the Saints on this one. They had some players kneel during the anthem for precisely one game and since then have had ZERO kneeling during anthem. I am very anti-disrespecting flag/anthem, but kneeling BEFORE the anthem plays cannot reasonably be construed as disrespectful. With that said, the Saints went overboard with this part:

""We will not allow Mr. Wells' decision and subsequent media appearances to distract our players and organization from continuing to honor and support our military and veterans. We, as an organization, have decided to move on from this sad and divisive discourse and focus our attention on supporting our military and veterans."

No need to take this parting shot.

Some of those people commenting on the FB page should try engaging in political protest at their jobs while on the clock and report back on how that turned out for them

"We are saddened to hear Cmdr. John Wells will not be attending the game to accept this award. However, we respect his decision and his continued dedication to serve our great country. Thank you Cmdr. Wells for all that you do."

How frickin hard was that? You think the Saints will pay me to write up their organization's responses in the future?

My decision to fish or deer hunt on Sunday afternoons is further proving to be a great decision.
I caught some sacalait last Sunday. Did the Saints play? Oh yeah, someone said they beat someone and are having a great season.

I did watch the entire WS, also, except for the longest one. I haven't done that in years. I watch sports and movies, TV to get away from life's bullshite. Overpaid assholes think they have the right to force disrespect on me, I have the right to NOT WATCH IT!!
I hope the NFAIL has to start discussions on salary reductions soon.

It is when they kneel in protest during a moment of silence for an NOPD officer who was killed in the line of duty.

And its still an anti-police protest. IMO its still disrespectful even if its before the anthem

Pretty sure the part before it isn’t what people are having a problem with.
