A lot of people do, which is the issue. The gay community has been beaten, evicted, murdered, exiled, ect for centuries. Pride month and the military (or any organization) making a point to recognize gays is about coming to terms with all that awful shite and making it clear that that era is over, not about anyone's sexual preferences or fetishes.
The military, or Navy in this case, is saying "We know you've been treated like shite for a long time and we want you to know that we aren't going to stand for it any more", because they recognize that they have excluded a lot of intelligent and competent people.

The U.S. military should only fly two flags: the U.S. flag and the flag of the branch they represent
A 3rd flag may flown to designate a particular battalion or unit.
Other than that, get out of the military if your allegiance is elsewhere.

The flyer Looks like something some sailors came up with on their own.
It doesn't look like enough people in the picture to be mandatory. People going to this getting special favors and promotions from the very top. Would not surprise me.

Matt needs to chill. No where does it say it was mandatory. Not even in the FB post. Pretty sure making some thing like that mandatory could invoke an IG complaint.
