Absolutely true. Gross income is the worst possible metric they could use.

A lot of southern Republicans may be socially conservative but they still lean left economically. Louisiana is a good example of this. We're more purple than most people give us credit for.

Why do you guys pretend states like LA and MS have these booming economies like the Northeast.
Don’t confuse wealth and economic growth. When you look at the top ten fastest growing state economies in the country over the last three years, there are four red states:
Idaho
Texas
Georgia
Utah
four blue states:
Oregon
Washington
California
Massachusetts
and two purples states:
Colorado
Florida
It’s also not accurate to attribute economic growth with a snapshot of political legislative control. Louisiana is a perfect example of this.

Here's an example.
I live in Mandeville. The median income is around $50k.
Tallulah, a city of comparable size, has a median income of about $17k.
Wanna guess which one votes R and which one votes D?
It's not the Republicans' fault that areas controlled by democrats are poor.
So how do you square that example on a state level comparison?

Someone making 50k in AL is richer than someone making 100k in Massachusetts. Man I wish NPCs were capable of critical thinking.
Not gonna happen.
Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe, the salary difference isnt always written off to housing prices.
Perhaps Employers just want to justify paying their employees lower than the market value, and just use COL as a scapegoat.
I've meet a couple of people who make 2 to 3 times more for the same job moving to from one Red State to another.

That's because Republicans reward themselves at the top and starve out everyone else. No surprise

Awesome. So if we would just have a Democratic legislature we'd be rich too . I have always suspected that !

I know you are being a smart-arse but it certainly is indicative of cultures where you give people the tools to succeed vs rewarding your good old boy Network

Top ten largest state income gaps:
1) New York
2) Connecticut
3) Louisiana
4) California
5) Florida
6) Massachusetts
7) Georgia
8) Texas
9) Mississippi
10) Illinois
5 Blues, 4 Reds, and a Purple
Your invalid talking points have no place here.

Now, let's look at states with the top ten largest debt - state and local governments combined: New York is #1 - Democrats. Wyoming is last - Republicans.
So the states with the most resources (wealthy residents) also have the highest debt? Well done dems.

Lol. That's your analysis? Good old boys network ? Like just a random Leftist cliché satisfies you ? That's all you require? Just stop....
Posted on 10/21/18 at 2:11 pm to StringedInstruments
What do those 5 richest states have in common besides the Democrat thing? And shall we talk about poorest cities?
Posted on 10/21/18 at 2:15 pm to StringedInstruments
In Texas you can live like a king for 125,000, that is two people. Kids really run up the bills.

Was it not as in-depth as this:

Hypocrite.
If you really want to discuss it further I can. Typically where there are lots of Republicans there is a very deep divide between rich and poor.
It doesn't take a genius to see how removing social programs and privatizing everything does not benefit the infrastructure for the less fortunate to succeed. It's not rocket science.
Good old boy Network refers to rewarding you and your own and keeping nepotism and cronyism alive. I grew up in Louisiana and saw it all first hand.

Take Louisiana for instance, break it down parish by parish and zoom in on actual neighborhoods and you'll see that the poorest areas ACTUALLY vote democrat.
Pretty much.

I'm looking at a list of states ranked by Gini coefficient and there are plenty of blue states populating the top of the list and red states at the bottom of the list. For those unfamiliar as I was a few minutes ago, a score of 0 indicates everyone makes the same amount of money while a score of 1 means that the entire states income is earned by a single person. Your assertion that would indicate that it s a Republican phenomena of rewarding a good ole boy network that drives income inequality would suggest that red states should be dominating the top of this list, but they aren't.

Well you've given so much meaningful contribution so I can see where you would have that high horse view. Pfft.
