Isnt this just asking for incompetence? Just hire unqualified people and watch the company sink.

Maybe it's also a way for the CEO to cut wages.

Generally, setting racial quotas is improper of done by numerical count.

I can't wait till companies feel the effects of this absurdity. Companies should look for the most qualified person available. PERIOD. Remember when they would headhunt the best persons in their field. Now they will be headhunting for color to fill their ridiculous quotas. Make no mistake the market will punish incompetence.

Systemic. Racism.

Q.E.D.

ETA: I am 1 of 2 white people in my department. There was once an opening in the C-suite. I told the interim COO that my application would be an opportunity for diversity. She said: don't even joke about that. Sometime after that the 3 department managers that were also white "resigned". The goal: the place was to be run by native islanders.

Never understood the whole racial quota thing. It takes away better qualified people because they don’t have the right skin color. Your race wants better representation then get your arse the experience and credentials. I also feel theee hiring practices lead to over representation of that race in the workplace. Hell even on tv you would swear 1 in 3 people are black and half of all couples are mixed.... when has diversity led to actual strengths?

They can't set numbers, they could say something like we would like the company to reflect the racial makeup of the State say in 10 years. (generally)

What they are doing, if that is what they are doing is setting themselves up for future suits.

My Company has done this for years. I hope this does help minorities in the long run but your chance for a promotion has just gone way down. Your situation is nothing new.

That's rather foolish in today's business world. One of the biggest challenges for companies today, is finding QUALIFIED people to fill roles. There are an abundance of jobs out there, but not enough qualified people to fill them. So now, your company is taking the approach of, "we don't care if you are qualified, we are more concerned with your skin color, first and foremost". Not only is that racist AF, it will lead to bad things ahead. I'm assuming you work for a large multinational?

Keep accurate notes. One day, hopefully, racial discrimination will be illegal (and actionable) again.

I would consider filing a charge with the EEOC, but the devil is in the details.

LINK

I will note that companies with less then 15 employees generally aren't subject to these restrictions, the devil is in the details.
