Roughly 60% of Muslims in the U.S. are concentrated in 5 states - California, New York, Texas, Illinois and Michigan.
The current issue is Michigan is the smallest of those 5 and with 300k (or more) Muslims out of a population of about 10 million, a simple doubling of the population, which happens for Muslims in the West about every 10 years, means that in 10 years, there is likely to be 600k in Michigan and in 20 years, 1.2m (roughly comparable with the black population of Michigan).
So, by 2046, Muslims (overwhelmingly Arab, as opposed to the Somali issue in Minnesota) could be comparable to black folks in the state of Michigan (in the 11 to 13% range).

What is interesting is that Dearborn is in Wayne County, and he is losing Wayne by about 6 percentage points. His support is really coming in places like Kent (Grand Rapids) to the west where he won by 26 percentage points. Washtenaw which is suburban Detroit.
It's not just Muslims voting for him.

Stevens is actually winning the high population areas like Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties. The problem is that she can't get a bigger spread of more than 7 pts. Meanwhile Al Sayed is winning the midsized cities like Grand Rapids, Lansing, Traverse City etc.
When you listen to and pay attention to what he is saying, he's close to Bernie Sanders.....maybe just slightly right of him, but not much
I was listening to something the other day in Michigan and this sort of explains some of the thinking. A guy who they were interviewing said something to the effect of
"Republicans and old line Democrats gutted our economic base, lost us jobs along with their corporate partners and they still want us to embrace them and the unfettered capitalism that they practice that just keeps stealing from us."
That's the thinking.....it's not a Muslim thing alone.
