Whoa, mostly everyone needs to slow their horses down.

Is it a 'handout' or a govt. check to return the taxpayers money that was fraudulently taken from them ?

I think not.

Many want to use this windfall to pay down a portion of the Debt.

Just who is responsible for running up that Debt ?

If you give those congress lizards more cash do you believe they will use it towards the Debt?

Fork those people, I want my money that was ripped away from my family , with interest.

What I saw was 80% of money would go to the debt and 20% back to taxpayers. I think he said people who dont pay taxes will get nothing.

Yea, keep the checks and pay down the debt. That was the reason for all this auditing.

Pay down the debt and it can help us for a longer time. I love the work they are doing. Keep it up, save your check

no reason they cant give a small portion back if REAL savings exists and not just found waste. This year may be rough on inflation, will take time for the drill baby drill and regulation changes to reflect.

After what we have seen the govt has done with our taxes, it only make sense to give a small part back to say sorry, we are getting it right. May be able to grab new voter interest as well.

if the Dems dont want the check b/c they are against DOGE, they can refuse it.

Stupid idea. If DOGE cancelled. all of the. discretionary spend, we would still be operating at a deficit.

Not a big fan of this.

Don’t get me wrong, I could always use an extra five grand. Anybody saying they couldn’t is just a liar.

But we need to start paying down some of that $36 trillion credit card bill we’ve run up.

Paying everyone $5,000 is just more of the same ol’, same ol’. I didn’t vote for that.

I’d rather then put it on the debt but the trump/elon haters might change their tune if they get a little $ sent their way.

How many people have you ever met that spent their refund checks well? Having been doing taxes for almost 20 years, I can tell you that most americans are not psychologically capable of spending "found money" with any type of responsibility.

We should just lower taxes and withholding. People are much smarter about their money when they get to keep $200 more out of each paycheck compared to getting a $5,200 refund.

It’s a psychological thing.

I draw house plans as a sideline gig. I’ve found over the years that EVERYONE wants the $2 million house, but nobody wants to pay the three grand for the plans to build it.

Why?

Because they never see that $2 million. The bank is paying for that (the monthly mortgage payment is easier to swallow). The $3,000 for the plans comes directly out of their pocket.

It’s the same psychological principle behind withholding.

They should do all of the above including 5K to each taxpayer since our money has been stolen.

Need to base the rebate on how much you paid.

We are never getting that back. Pay back debt and prosecute the people who stole it.

This is what I read also. If 80% is going towards the deficit and the other 20% back to the taxpayer from the savings, then what’s the problem? If it works out like that, I’m for it.

I’ve never once gotten one of these free money handouts. I’ve always managed to make too much money and don’t quality, ever. I’m not upset because I work hard and I’m not poor.

Based on that, I oppose it because I’m sure it will be indexed to income.
